It is just me who’s noticed that in most fanfics that specify the reader being black, they tend to make the reader the “stereotypical black girl trope” where they’re aggressive, hard headed with “queen behaviour” with impractical behaviour and unnecessary outbursts.

As a black woman, I understand that yes there are black women who present like this,I’m not shaming anyone about it, not judging or anything but the lack of fics presenting black women as soft spoken, delicate, fragile women is lowk a lil concerning, because there’s a lot of us who aren’t like that, but it just seems to me that that is how we are all presented.

When the readers race isn’t specified,they’re written to be softer and more “feminine” who don’t fight, they’re shy but when they’re specified to be black it’s a whole different story.

Not trying to be negative or anything, just something I noticed and wondered if anyone else agrees. But, does anyone else feel like the fanfic community has kinda of faded throughout the years?

I remember when everyone was super active in it and pushing out fic’s like it was their job. But now that personalized AI has come around I feel like people haven’t really been as reliant on fan fiction to get that kind of self insert experience.

Which makes me kinda sad because it completely strips away the community aspect of sharing fan fiction. Also because using AI for this purpose is such an isolating experience and a huge difference between fan fiction and AI roleplay is that fanfics have an END.

Using generative AI for this and being able to go on as long as you want seems like why so many people are becoming addicted to it.

Anyways those are just some of my thoughts, sorry if it was written/formatted poorly I just wanted to go on a bit of a rant. But anyone from either side of this issue let me know your thoughts please!

I definitely agree, from my own experience, ever since Character Ai was launched thats when I noticed fan fiction started to really fall apart. I know there was chatbots that existed before cai like Chai, however the AI wasnt as complex and you wouldnt be able to develop a plot without the AI going off topic or straight up being freaky.

Character Ai is, obviously, very addictive which im glad it made these updates where it makes the website/app unbearable to use.

Since I had so many ideas and scenarios that I wanted to play out in AI, I decided "why not write it down myself?" and get back into making my own fanfics, Its hard but it's authentic.

I havent used a chatbot for about a year and a half now and Im sure that streak is sure to increase! :)
