“Who are you?” Yuya finally asks as he accepts the canteen. It feels as though nothing has been drunk at all. The peculiarity of this only adds to their situation as he hooks the canteen back to his belt and wrings his hands. “Are you a demon of sorts? Or perhaps an angel?” He squints his eyes and hobbles back another step. “One that has surely earned some form of scorn.”

“Neither.” The man’s voice holds traces of amusement in it as he pushes himself to his feet. His leathery wings hiss as he flexes them before fixing Yuya with a pinning look. “I am what all yield to in the end. Though I have many names, such as Ankou, or Azrael, or even the Pale One, you may call me Malleus, and you may know me as Death.”

“… oh.”

It’s a rather lackluster response to being told that the man who just drank from your canteen like a dehydrated fish is the all-powerful Grim Reaper. Yuya sways a touch as he looks up at Malleus, his hands still tightly wrung together. “Does this mean you are going to kill me?”

Well, he supposes with the drought, and the walk, and this terribly hot sun, that this would be his inevitable ending. Yuya steps forward, throws his arms wide, and drops to his knees as he looks up towards the entity’s visage. “Very well! Make it quick, then, and do not prolong my agony!”
