Luna x Callie - “That is a lot of blood.”
@cherrybombprincessa
If Luna had learned anything after her time at the estate it was that ignorance really was bliss. Everyone that surrounded her was avoiding something, and if nobody asked about it then they could continue avoiding it. It was the whole reason that Luna had been avoiding Callie. Honestly the two couldn’t be more different if they tried, but for some reason the two worked well as friends. Callie had seen the look on Luna’s face when she said there was a possibility she might have actually been pregnant and it wasn’t a mistake. The sparks of the memory was enough for Luna to run and not look back. She did her best to ignore that it was even possible to be real and avoided the fiery redhead at every cost. As long as she stayed away from the girl then Luna could continue to live in her bubble of ignorance.
The brunette was getting ready for bed that night, tying her luscious curls back into a messy ponytail when she felt something wet in her underwear. She was confused to say the least so she stepped into the bathroom so that she could see what it was. Simply expecting herself to just be imagining it, the brunette was met with the sight of blood leaking onto her underwear. “That is a lot of blood,” she whispered to herself, momentarily stuck on what to do. Since the first moment where she tried to play it off as a joke Luna was faced with the positive pregnancy test again. Her bubble had officially been popped. Fuck. Rushing to get her phone Luna called the only person that had any knowledge of what was possibly going through her mind in that moment. Part of her expected Callie to not answer the phone. After all she’d been blowing the girl off and ignoring her. She was just hoping that she’d hear something coming from the other end of the phone. Hell, she’d do anything for Callie to answer the phone and simply start on a tirade of insults. When the other end of the phone connected Luna felt some form of relief flood through her, but she didn’t give the girl a chance to talk too much before she interrupted her. “Do you know how to hot wire a car? I’m bleeding and I am not walking into the infirmary for someone to see me like that.” Luna wasn’t usually so demanding, but if it was true she didn’t want to risk her parents or the world finding out. She was already being closely watched because she was the kidnapped princess. It was so much easier when she was able to pretend none of this was real.
Callie had not seen Luna since the day they’d found out Luna was pregnant. Or at the very least the pregnancy test had been pregnant. While beforehand, they seemed to be doing well, perhaps even developing what Callie might even call a friendship - since that day Luna had been dodging any calls. Callie could take a hint, and she was quick to brush it off her back and not bother sending the calls and texts anymore. She had better things to do with her time than chase someone who would only make her vulnerable at the end of the day.
Nightmares were almost a ritual at this point for Callie, she’d gotten used to sleeping poorly and adjusting her life on schedule to that poor sleep schedule. Every morning she’d get up, put a little extra concealer under her eyes and pretend like her nights hadn’t been spent half awake and half in the realm of terror. Pretending she was good at. She’d always been a talented actress. The redhead was already half awake when the phone started buzzing, moving itself across her bedside table. Callie jolted out of the half sleep she’d been in, grunting half heartedly. Half of her spiteful self was tempted not to bother picking up the phone at all. After all, Luna had been ghosting her as they said. But with a sigh, she picked it up anyway. Just as she was working up a snarky comment, the girl started in. “Meet me in the parking garage,” she said simply, hanging up the phone. She’d assess the damage later. Callie quickly changed into something different, grabbed her purse and headed outside. From there, she managed to creep across the grounds in the warm summer night and head for the parking garage. Getting in was easier than she thought it would be. Within a few minutes she had made her way to a car she was semi-familiar with and broke in, something that was fairly easy to do.
During her captivity, her body and system had been completely messed up. She was regularly being drugged by the person she thought to be a friend just to keep her cooperative. Knowing how often he used that as a power move, and the knowledge she had over the human body Luna didn’t even think much over the fact that she hadn’t gotten her period. The smallest change of difference could effect it. If it wasn’t for the positive pregnancy test that Luna took with Callie then she wouldn’t have thought twice about it. Simply buy a tampon and take something for the inevitable cramps. But this wasn’t something Luna was prepared for or knew how to deal with. It was a rare moment for the young princess. Usually she always had a plan or some kind of action prepared.
That was probably the reason that she called Callie in the first place. For one, she was the only person that knew about the possible predicament that Luna was in. But her personality was just as fiery as the red locks the girl had. That was what she needed. And even if she didn’t want to entirely admit it, she was the only person in the whole estate that Luna had gotten close enough to, to call a friend. Or something close to it. “I’m on my way,” she spoke into the phone after hearing the girl’s instructions. The part of her that wanted to have control wanted to change the sweatpants and underwear that was now stained with the crimson liquid, but she thought better than that. Grabbing a jacket for warmth, the girl slid on some ugg boots and made her way down to the parking garage. It was probably the fact that she knew she had to be somewhere, but the brisk walk to the parking garage didn’t feel like it took too long. The door had already been left open which Luna put down to Callie beating her there, or at least that what she hoped. The sound of the engine told her what direction to go. The brunette saw the car and the fair skinned redhead inside one of the cars and climbed in through the passenger side door. “Not gonna lie, I’m impressed with your skill set ,” she nodded to the car as the sound of the motor purred.
Callie had had an interesting childhood. She might have had a great deal of money, but she’d still had the opportunity to be around plenty of people despite it. Despite the private boarding schools and the galas and what not, students weren’t entirely unknown to have underground parties, and for some time, she had hung around with a few of them. They weren’t all bad. She’d picked up a few tricks in that time, one of which included picking locks. Something she’d discovered wasn’t hard at all once she got the hang of it. Hot wiring cars was just another one of the things she learned.
The make of the car made it a little bit more troublesome, but she managed to start it up. She just hoped that the guards were in the middle of a shift change or something of the start. She didn’t exactly want to be caught doing this. It’d be right back to the institution if they caught her like this. “You should be. You’re lucky I deigned you important enough to get out of bed,” she was on the defensive. After all, being left was harder to do if one left the other first.
One thing that you could always seem to count on was that there was definitely a lot of different ways to get out of the estate. After all if people could escape prison then it wasn’t like there were ways to get out of that place when you needed to. Honestly, Luna didn’t quite know how she felt about the estate. It was away from home which was at least something. It was even a place of education, it just wasn’t offering the type that Luna had anticipated when she heard the premise of the estate. She figured with a more mature age demographic that they would offer at least something more challenging. Instead it only seemed that life was doing the challenging and the testing of everything.
It was odd. Callie was maybe the one person that she came close to considering a friend, yet she essentially knew nothing about the girl. The girl was so good with how she acted that it made the brunette curious. Then again if Luna was questioned about her past she would probably go on the defensive. Even with the situation she was in she still hadn’t told Callie about the time she spent being locked in a soundproof basement. “I appreciate it,” she explained simply. It wasn’t like her mind was completely focused on anything other than the blood and the pregnancy test. Luna was always good at being self possessed, so she looked the part but her mind was splitting at the seams. Which for Luna was very rare. “When I joked about how we should get out of the estate sometime, this isn’t what I meant. If I wanted to end up in hospital I could have done that from the outside; rather than finding out the disappointment in hope by coming here.” The estate was like a dream come true. She was finally somewhere specifically designed for learning, it just wasn’t what she pictured. Her stomach felt like it was cramping, which made her groan somewhat. Resting her hand onto her stomach, Luna leaned back in the seat.
It might have been high security to the outside world, but most of the royals knew several ways to get out. It wasn’t like there was a limit for the rowdy young adults who were used to getting everything and anything they could ever want in life. Picked locks, learning the guards schedules, or which guards might not be so worried about letting out the royals for a price. Or how to hot wire a car, of course. Callie had learned them all. She knew a day might very well come where her parents would rain down upon her head and she would need to run the moment she caught word. On top of that, she’d spent too much of her life being unprepared and not knowing the exits. She knew now not to let her guard down. The memory of the knife in her chest was a good reminder. Emotions, softness and compassion were not her strong suit. She wasn’t good at being nice, or being comforting. It never had been her strong suit. If she never let someone in, it meant she never got disappointed, and being kind left herself open to that. She pondered making a snarky comment about the girl not answering her phone, but decided it might reveal that she’d actually been sort of put off by it. Perhaps hurt wasn’t the word, or maybe it was. She wasn’t sure she knew the meaning anymore. When the brunette released a groan Callie didn’t bother saying anything to comfort her. But she did pick up speed a little until they reached the gates. She did the little brake jump she’d seen the guards do a few times as they passed the cubicle and just hoped it meant something that forgone a reason to show a pass. The gates opened and she drove through them, picking up more speed as they reached the road. “It shouldn’t be more than ten minutes,” Callie said. She had had plenty of experience driving cars a little too quickly and avoiding getting caught.
