I can't get over how the older fandom base butchered Hunter's personality because of Artificer, depicting it has Artificer 2 that is dying from rot. Luckily it's not as common anymore but still. Just because it was also red and a carnivore. Hunter's whole purpose is to save Moon, which means it NEEDED to be strong and a bit violent but that doesn't mean it's inherently a bloodthirsty creature. It's a brave Scug that is willing to sacrifice it's short life for a being that it isn't close to, and probably doesn't care about really, give up any chance of it living like any other Slugcat even if for a short while for it's mission. It isn't like Artificer at all but yet the fans still made it like Artificer. It's kinda sad actually.

I don't want to completely blame artihunter but...

Hunter used to be the cool edgy one. After Downpour its a Rot patient, Artificer's spouse or a Rot patient that's also Artificer's spouse. They're both red and kill things, of course we're gonna ship them! What do You mean both their campaigns are fundamentally opposites? Psh, who cares about that!

No, I'm not new to fandom as one would accuse. I'm quite familiar with fandom's shipping conventions and that is PRECISELY why I'm bored! You understand, I hope.

I think that Hunter ended up the way it is in both strengths and weaknesses as a result of being forced into doing some things it shouldn't to survive whether it's what we'd call morally reprehensible or not and was later recruited by NSH for its skills. The most interesting part is that every sign points to the green neuron delivery as being a act of selflesness (unless you suscribe to the headcanon it's a test tube baby)

This wild creature could've very easily tossed its cargo aside and then beelined for the Echoes and then the Void Sea or gone off to do whatever else it wanted with its limited time. It gets nothing from reviving Moon and NSH doesn't even seem to have a way to track the delivery. But we know it didn't. Through the countless dangers it had to face, the ever decreasing cycles, possibly forsaking its own salvation... Hunter followed its mission to the end and succeeded.

It was simply the right thing to do.

Hunter deserves so much better from us. And so much better than to be shackled with a bastard who's happier digging itself deeper and not adding a single good thing to the world. I honestly believe that if they were to meet, it would not have a peaceful resolution.

you've helped me move beyond what the fandom thinks about every slugcat and now i don't even know how i feel about Hunter having rot ,, which is hard since they're my favorite character and all the content you ever get of them in this fandom is rot after rot after rot after rot and haha funny cancer joke WHATEVER
