Austin: I'm sure she knows. And if she doesn't... I mean, I've gotta tell her eventually, right? [He hummed out, closing his eyes as he imagined all the different ways it could go. In his head, there weren't any good endings. The thought almost made him feel sick. Out of habit, one that he'd meant to break long ago, he started picking at a loose thread in his jeans.] I'll figure it out. I'm probably annoying you with this- this bullshit. [He paused, hoping that he wasn't coming off as awkward. Lately it's all he felt - awkward and annoying and a nuisance to everyone. It wasn't comforting in the slightest.] What're your plans for the rest of the night?

Cherry: You can talk to me about anything, you know, whether or not you think it's silly to talk about. If it's bothering you then it's important to me, okay? [She hoped he knew how much she meant that. She may not always have the best advice, but she cared and she tried and that's all she expected from her friends when it came to her, too.] My night? I'm going out with a friend, I think I'm going to be out pretty late. And you? What are your plans for tonight mi amor?

Austin: [He ran a hand through his shaggy hair, knowing that eventually he'd have to get it cut if he wanted to prepare for Olympic auditions. That was easier to think about than his girlfriend, but he didn't have the luxury of doing so.] I've tried before. She's out visiting her father. It just... It doesn't make sense, Cherr. She said her father died years ago when she was a teenager. [He got back up from the couch to pace more, huffing out a heavy sigh.] I'm pissed. It's like we're not even together anymore. I don't understand what I fucking did to make her this way. She was never like this up until a month ago.

Cherry: [She pursed her lips, she knew what she had to do, but she couldn't tell him. Ever.] What are you going to do? Do you think you'll talk to her about it? Do you think she even /knows/ what she's doing is bothering you so much? [Cherry put her phone between her ear and her shoulder, using her free hands to rearrange some of her cupcakes in the cabinets].

“Exactly my point. You were clingier than usual, and I wasn’t sure if that was possible,” the woman teased, leaning over to pinch the man’s cheek playfully. “How can I say no to an offer like that? Please, lead the way. What sort of something did you have in mind?”

Austin: [The gentle sigh that left her had Austin worrying, if only for a brief moment, that she'd tell him he was annoying. He bit on his lip. If anything, he hated when he acted this way.] Everyone keeps telling me that. Fuck, even /Daniel/ tells me straight up. [He rubbed at his forehead, weary with everything. He needed a week to just calm down from the drama alone.] I'm just so lost, Cherr. I don't- I don't love her anymore. [He flinched at his own admission, hating how the truth sounded.] I don't know what to do. I can't break her heart.

Cherry: [Her heart hurt listening to the man on the other end. She cared about him a lot and hated knowing that he felt like this.] If you don't love her you owe it to her to not string her along. You owe it to yourself... Maybe try and talk to her and see what keeps her away so much. I don't know. I she needs to communicate with you more, but it doesn't seem as if she /wants/ to do that.

Austin: [He sat down on his couch with a resounding sigh, head falling in his palm as he rested his elbow on his knee.] No. [Weak. Pitiful. He felt so foolish.] I thought she'd at least stay for our anniversary. [A laugh, sour and bitter and everything in between, fell from his lips humorlessly. Austin wondered briefly if he was losing his mind.] I just... don't... understand? Am I- Am I doing something wrong? Am I too clingy? [He didn't think he was, but being blind to ones selfish habits were always better pointed out by others.] Am I just fucking annoying, and nobody has the balls to tell me they don't actually like me?

Cherry: [She checked over the counter to make sure there were no customers in store before he talked to her friend, sighing quietly out of her nose as she continued to listen.] I know, I know it's hard. But you're definitely not doing anything wrong, mi amor. She's the one making the decision to leave her boyfriend all the time, and if for some reason she is unhappy with anything, she should have the guts to tell you instead of making you hurt. What she's doing isn't fair... [Cherry paused for a moment as she tried to think of what to say.] You shouldn't be in a relationship where you always have to brace yourself to be left down.

Austin: [The male paced as he pressed the phone hard against his ear, bottom lip worrying away between his teeth. He could've called anyone - Daniel, his mother, even Riley - but it was Cherry who had been on his mind when he pressed dial. His nerves were on high as he shoved his free hand through his hair when she picked up.] Cherr, it's me. Austin. Um. [His tone was jumbled, high pitched and uncharacteristic for him. It was a clear sign he was panicking more than usual.] She fucking bailed again. Francesca. We had plans and she fucking- She fucking left me a note saying she'd be out all weekend and— Jesus christ, it's not like our anniversary is anything fucking special.

Cherry: [Cherry looked down at her phone with a smile when she saw who was calling, pulling it out of her apron pocket and holding it to her ear.] Hey mi amor, I- [She paused as she was put off, pursing her lips as she listened to the frazzled man on the other end of the phone.] You need to slow down, babe... [Sighing, Cherry ran a hand through her hair, checking to make sure she wasn't covered in flour before she did so.] I hate to say this, but, can you really say it's a surprise by this point?

“Am I really boring you that much?” he asked and grinned teasingly at the girl sitting in front of him. He licked his lips and shook his head, knowing that she was probably just tired because of the job she had - which she had obviously just come from. You sure do know how to sweet talk a girl. William shook his head and laughed, tilting his head backwards as he locked eyes with the dark-headed girl. He did know how to talk to a girl; in the line of work he had, it was something he needed to know. William was selling him, in a way. Something he did every day. Selling a merchandise. But if you really are happy with spending a little more time with me, how would you feel about me going home to change? Even if I didn’t have a shirt full of milkshake, my work uniform isn’t very flattering. “Depends who you ask, really. But, I wouldn’t mind. Mind me tagging along?” he asked, deciding that he needed to, although he felt as if she had implied it herself.

“No, no, not at all, hermoso,” Cherry smiled, shaking her head for the moment before bringing her drink to her lips, taking the last sip as she could taste it was beginning to cool off now.  Her morning had definitely taken an unexpected turn, not that she was complaining. Maybe she’d let cute boys bump into her more often, even if her elbows did kind of hurt. “Well the only opinion that really matters to me is my own, and right now I think that I need to change my shirt,” she spoke, beginning to shuffle out of the booth so she could put her cup into the nearby bin. “Are you coming?” Cherry looked over her shoulder at the man once she had put her trash away, waiting for him to join her.

“It’s not a long course, if you were interested in doing it. I’ve been doing it for five years – make-up, that is, professionally. It’s not even work for me a lot of the time, that’s how much I enjoy it.”

“That’s really sweet to hear. I love my job, but sometimes it can be tedious. I need to be there at five in the morning most days and most mornings I just want to... Sleep.”

I only think a cute boy like you would have better places to be, you know. William grinned and shrugged. “Well, I might have other places to be, but none of them would be better than this. Trust me.” He actually did have somewhere he needed to be at one point, but he decided to just send the dudes a message and tell them that he’d be late. Hell, they were supposed to rest after the tour they had been on after,  so it wasn’t like he was ditching them per say. He was just, taking their suggestion to heart and doing what they wanted. “Uh, you could, but I don’t see you as someone who’d steal a jacket. Especially one that look as awful and worn like that one,” he said and nodded towards the jacket he had borrowed her. “Although, I do have to admit, you can pull it off very nicely.”

Cherry enjoyed the smile that appeared on the man’s face across from her, pleased with herself knowing that she’d contributed to it. “You don’t have to do that, really, if you have somewhere you need to be,” she spoke modestly, wanting to give him a choice as to whether he wanted to leave or not. Bringing her fingers up to her lips, Cherry stifled a yawn that threatened to break through, even with the dirty chai latte. She loved the bakery, but having to be there before the sun was up some days, and that combined with her... Special hobby, it didn’t give her much time for sleep. “You sure do know how to sweet talk a girl,” Cherry smiled, pulling the jacket a little more snugly around her shoulders. “But, if you really are happy with spending a little more time with me, how would you feel about me going home to change? Even if I didn’t have a shirt full of milkshake, my work uniform isn’t very flattering.”
