dear jess, do you have a lovely/relaxing night routine? or what do you do to get ready for bed? also, when you make like vanilla caramel moisturizer, what makes it caramel? is there caramel essential oil? i hope you have a lovely day! xox <3
yes i do have a bedtime routine! it’s important for me to wind down especially since i go to the gym in the evening & sometimes that affects my sleep. a bit before bed i turn on all my fairy lights & aroma diffuser, which usually has a blend of relaxing essential oils. i also like to light candles or take a candlelit himalayan salt/epsom salt bath. at some point i write my next days to-do list and any creative ideas i had during the day. lately i’ve been meditating right before sleeping. besides that i also have my skincare routine, and once a week i do an indian healing clay (bentonite) mask. i’ll also put on my handmade sugar cookie body lotion or laura mercier’s ambre vanillé soufflé body crème cuz i love to go to bed smelling pretty~
as for your second question, there are several ways to go about adding sweet fragrances to products. those who opt to make a truly synthetic-free product can use scented things from nature to create the fragrance they desire- for example, vanilla essential oil or extract, cinnamon essential oil or bark, brown sugar, nut meals, cloves, raw honey, coconut oil, cocoa butter (smells like chocolate), certain flowers & herbs, etc. or you can use fragrance oils. fragrance oils are synthetic & used in perfume or soapmaking. whereas essential oils are extracted from plants & have physical or emotional healing properties, fragrance oils just smell good! you can get all kinds of scents from musky to gourmand to floral to woodsy. if you’re going to use fragrance oils you should use high quality ones from a reputable source.
