since my last headcanon list turned out to resonate with a lot of you, have this similar piece of garbage:
Dean blasts classic rock outside Sam’s school every day he picks him up.
Sam makes Mother’s Day and Father’s Day cards for Dean—and Dean keeps every single one in an overflowing ziplock bag in his duffel bag.
On Dean’s first real cellphone, his screensaver was a picture of him and Sam during a prank war.
Dean walked Sam into his first day of school until he got “too old” to have his big brother hold his hand on the way to his classroom.
During Dean’s elementary school lunch break, he would walk by Sam’s classroom and offer the pipsqueak a wave.
Sam’s first word was “De.”
Sam accidentally (and innocently) called Dean “Dad” on multiple occasions—what else should he call the boy who raised him?
Sam asked Dean to his first middle school dance and Dean had to decline for the sake of Sam’s itty bitty reputation, but they both stayed home in the end and watched old movies.
Dean taught Sam to write in cursive and even though his teachers had to do some damage control, his handwriting still looks like Dean’s when he’s not paying attention.
Dean gave Sam the “don’t do drugs” talk.
Dean “accidentally” taught second grader Sam that fractions are equal to their reciprocals.
Dean used to make Sam mac ‘n cheese and called the store-bought recipe his “homemade dish.”
The first time Sam scraped his knee, Dean cried too.
Sam was tasked with describing his hero in the fourth grade; that hero was depicted as wearing too-big flannel shirts, an old leather jacket, too many freckles to count, sandy blond hair, and emerald eyes.
Sam came out to Dean in the eighth grade. Dean laughed and took him out for ice cream after commenting “that’s why you get all fidgety when you see Patrick Swayze”
Dean would willingly take cold showers so Sam could have a warm bath.
Dean tested the temperature of Sam’s soup every time he made it for him.
Sam used to be absolutely petrified of thunderstorms and would find a hiding place no matter where they were. Dean would find him with his baby hands covering his ears and tears streaming down his cheeks as he huddled under a blanket, and would scoop him up and shuffle over to the bed to watch some cartoons on high volume with Sam curled up against his side/in his lap.
Sam made the first move on the Fourth of July, 1996 and kissed Dean on his tippy toes while fireworks went off overhead. There was a ringing in his ears the whole time...or maybe that was his heartbeat thrumming anxiously inside his head.
Dean was Sam’s “chaperone” to the one homecoming dance he went to with his best friend of the month. He has yet to feel a jealousy as strong as he felt in that moment.
Dean took care of Sam, but Sam also took care of Dean. And that’s why their hearts will forever be one.
