Something I find interesting is that McKay seems to be the only person who consistently sees Javadi as a twenty year old girl.
Robby and Garcia and Shamsi and even Trinity look at Javadi and see the prodigy and they don't question how strange it is for her to be there. We see that in their reactions to Javadi making a mistake which is on par with or even smaller than the mistakes made by her peers. They treat her like in every situation, she should already know exactly what to do. It's not treated like a teaching moment like it is for other med students and interns. She fucked up and should have known better.
But McKay from day one sees Javadi and acknowledges how strange it is for her to be so young and where she is. She behaves almost maternally to her because I think Cassie puts in her a category more akin to Harrison than to her peers. She doesnt expect a level of emotional maturity from her that really doesn't make sense from someone that young. Instead, she talks to her. She actually teaches her instead of just assuming she's a prodigy with all the answers and berating her when she doesn't have them.
I'm glad that Javadi has one person in her corner and I will continue to believe that McKay is the most underrated character on the show.

Forgive Me (1/2)
What santos said in the langdon fight scene isn't just about her anger towards langdon, it's about her anger towards herself. She isn't just upset at him for what he did, she's mad at herself for not reporting abuse she faced again. In her mind, she's let another man with power over her get off completely scot free for what he did, and worse everyone around her is telling her to just accept that he's changed when they don't even know the extent of what happened like she does. This has got to be so re-traumatizing for her ugh im sick.
"maybe I just don't belong here."
ROBBY SAY SOMETHING. oh my fucking god. the NOTHING is fucking crazy oh my fucking god. I have never seen projection this fucking hard. and Samira now dismissive and closed off, insisting she's fine when she's not, doing what? following in Robby's fucked up footsteps of shoving everything down. it'll kill them both.
THIS. THIS IS WHY THE RECEPTION IS SO GODAWFUL AND APPALLING. BECAUSE THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THE PITT IS TRYING TO SHOW.
like NO, people in crisis will NOT always be pretty and wrapped up in a neat little bow.
robby starting to have conversations with mel AND samira and just walking away before he reaches a conclusion, right as they admit to feeling isolated and unsure…
robby has completely divested his responsibility in these people’s futures. he shows almost no care towards them continuing in the field or maintaining a support network. similarly to his completely shallow debrief of louie’s death with dennis earlier in the season, he doesn’t attempt true connection with anyone this season.
compare this with his investment in collins’ mental health in season one. compare this with him devoting whole conversations to make sure dennis was alright and asking dana to keep an eye on him. compare this to robby going out of his way to assure trinity she was supposed to report langdon.
it’s such a stark difference. his character is devolving before our eyes.
oh boy i’m winded
this is not a criticism of trinity santos these are just facts about her character that i know to be true.
she has a massive victim complex and it’s becoming a self fulfilling prophecy. this stems from her being victimized in her youth, but the way she feeds into it and refuses to heal means she is always going to view herself as a perpetual victim and always as the harmed party. this is a detriment not only to her own mental health but also to the people around her. she lashes out at people but doesn’t think she’s hurting them because in her mind she CAN’T hurt anyone. SHE’S always the victim. she can make fun of whitaker for his patient dying but he can’t make fun of her dropping a scalpel. she can call victoria a shitty nickname and just because she doesn’t intend for it to be malicious, that should mean that victoria shouldn’t tell her to stop, regardless of it’s impact. when she messes up and gets reprimanded, she goes into a total freeze because she doesn’t know how to cope with a situation without making herself the victim. power and agency was taken from trinity when she was young and vulnerable and she’s never been able to grow from that. that’s why she projects onto to every little girl that comes through the er. she has to look out for patients she sees herself in because she needed help and didn’t get any. and i think you can really see how stuck in her own misery she is through the way she views langdon. she thinks she’s a pariah because of langdon and not her own actions. she brought him up to garcia multiple times over the ten months he was away even when she thought that he had been fired and she wouldn’t ever see him again. she’s addicted to picking at her own wounds. this probably ties into her self harming habit too, she is always hurting herself again and again because hurt is the only way she knows how to be. she can’t accept that langdon has grown because she doesn’t know what it’s like to grow and move on from something.
