Happy Moon Jo Day 1 to all my friends
And Happy Moon Jo Day 2 to all my lovelies 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
It’s 37th Anniversary of one of the best Dark Comedy “Heathers”. At this point, you guys know me. But with Heathers, there’s good reason. I’ve always found Moon Jo to have some similarities the character JD , mixed with the sass of Heather Chandler and Jung Woo having some similarities with Veronica Sawyer. There are several scenes in SFH that also match with several scenes in Heathers. So as tribute to the dark comedy, I wanted to post some fake SFH dialogues and cracks, inspired by famous lines from the movie Heathers 😌😌😌
Feel free to add more 😂😂😂
Happy Heathers Day @kdreader02
I did some more 🤣🤣🤣
Been watching Singles Inferno. So had a thought 😂😂
How about a show where all Kdrama Villains come together to an island and stay there for 10 days.
With each other.
Not in a dating show manner, more like who does what and who looses their sh*t first.
No internet. No phone. No outside people. No extra money.
No alcohol.
No coffee.
And they have everything like Singles Inferno. Swimming pool, places to be nosy and watch said swimming pool, beachside chairs. They have to live off of food like Singles Inferno too. Kale, carrots, tuna and drama
* Carmen Habanera starts playing in the background*
Imagine you’re in those condition, you wake up in a really hot day. And then someone comes and says “can we talk ?”
😈😈😈😈😈😈
First, of course. No surprise there 😌😌😌
And
Feel free to add more 😈😈
For Devil Judge, I picked them together…. for extra fun

Another Analogy of MJJW Dynamic: Abiogenesis
I know MJJW’s dynamic has been compared to everything under the sun. It has been dissected, again and again and been analyzed 100s of times. I myself have done some. So I guess, I’ll add another one to the list 😌. I think MJJW’s dynamic and the core of Strangers From Hell series can be compared to a prehistoric phenomena of how life was created on earth; Abiogenesis.
Abiogenesis theory suggests (in short) ; Earth had potentials of life, but nothing was really happening. There were chemicals, gases, materials, but it was all inorganic. Then at some certain point, things became really unstable and brutal. Violent lightning, storm, meteorite impacts, volcanic heat and radiation … all of these made earth really volatile but also, activated. The inorganic materials broke apart to its molecules and got rearranged. Into much more complex, organic molecules. Eventually those organic molecules formed, what is known, prebiotic soup. This primordial mixture eventually provided the building blocks and first life on earth emerged.
Even though earth had everything necessary for life, life didn’t just happen with a flick of a finger. Only one time of heavy lightening, heat or radiation didn’t do it either. The process started 4 billion years ago and went on for thousands of years, with failures and missed opportunities, before it finally succeeded. It required breaking apart, rearranging and rebuilding. As brutal and violent the process was, life exists because of that. Birth and creation of life have always been violent.
I came to learn the theory a short while ago and of course, I thought of SFH (as you guys already know by now, I make everything about SFH 😂😂) .
JW always had potential in him, but without MJ, he probably wouldn’t have broken his shell. He probably would not have continued his writing and would’ve suffocated or went into self harming without MJ, but that’s another blog for another day 🖤🖤. What JW went through in the story, is brutal and violent. And because of that, his heavy shell was broken and he was finally able to breathe (Director Lee Chang Hee has shown that through last scene, even if JW doesn’t admit or acknowledge that verbally). So I thought this analogy fits the core theme of the series very well. A masterpiece of a psychological thriller that also forces us, the audience, to see the violence of rebirth.
This snippet from Dong Wook’s Bubble chat reminded me of episode 3 rooftop scene
Ugh I miss them …
(P.S. I got this gif from tumblr around 2022, but I don’t remember who edited it. If you’re the original editor, please let me know, I’ll mention you)
Happy Moon Jo Day 1 to all my friends
Wishing all my lovelies a very happy Valentine’s 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Seo Moon Jo and Eom Bok Soon spinoff
I would absolutely love a spinoff just on them. Their dynamic alone is so interesting, twisted, and dark. Their dynamic alone can be a series like Succession.
Eom Bok Soon is someone who is an expert level manipulator. For someone like Eom Bok Soon, it’s relatively easy to throw Moon Jo under the bus. If something goes down, and people start digging …. Nobody gonna be suspicious of little old Ahjumma with smiley face who’s a Deaconess of Church. They’re gonna be suspicious of the young Dr who’s rather quiet and keeps to himself. And if Moon Jo is thrown under the bus, he stands to loose everything but Bok Soon would fly under the radar, cause why would anyone doubt her ?
In this dynamic, Moon Jo is in a position where he could be easily blackmailed on anything by Bok Soon. Be it money, killing, papers or anything else. Especially when Twins kept record of everything in SD cards.
Almost reminds me of Wallabies. Like when mom Wallabies are threatened, they drop their cub as a distraction to predators while they themselves get away.
I want a prequel of SFH just to see this dynamic more. Moon Jo and Bok Soon’s dynamic would be nothing short of a Chess tournament. I would LOVE to see a series or movie where Moon Jo and Bok Soon go into a battle of wits.
“Jagi”
Maybe I have talked about this before, I’m not sure. But I wanna talk about usage of the word Jagi in SFH.
Jagiya means Honey, Darling, Sweetheart etc. more casually Babe. It’s often used in romantic exchange between people who are dating each other. This term is also used between close friends or best friends. Especially women best friends. Women besties often call each other “Jagi” as a term of endearment. This is something that can be used as a term of endearment between couples and besties both, depending on tone of the speakers
However Jagi (not the word Jagiya) has another meaning. Literal dictionary meaning shows it means oneself, self, myself, as one etc. Other loose meanings also exist depending on context and who’s speaking (Hangul is a very context oriented language ) .
In the webtoon Yeongsam calls mostly Jagiya (if I’m not mistaking) but in the series, Moon Jo uses the term Jagi, a lot. When talking to Jung Woo, he calls him Jagi like every 10 seconds. In the webtoon, it’s not that frequent but Yeongsam also uses it quite a bit. I think this was done intentionally. Director Lee Chang Hee is very well known for his playing with nuances and languages.
Taken literally, Jagi means Darling. But most things in Strangers From Hell are not always literal. Pretty much everything in this series carries hidden meanings. I think the usage of the word Jagi wasn’t only meant as an endearment or as Honey. It was also used to show how Moon Jo sees Jung Woo. Moon Jo sees himself in Jung Woo or he sees himself and Jung Woo as one (literal grammatical meaning). Which is also very intimate ngl. I think that was a big part of Moon Jo using Jagi so frequently in the series. It wasn’t just romantic or endearing. I love SFH’s writer, screenwriter and director so much 🖤🖤🖤
Oh may I share a part of my bachelors analysis I did back then? I counted how often and when he uses the word. I agree with the meaning, that Moonjo sees Jongwoo as a part of himself or rather wants to make him into that. I mean his goal is to make copycats of himself but was annoyed with Kihyuk for being too close and too clingy, but then still did mistakes Moonjo would never do. (I think he saw that as an insult on himself, that's why he killed him)
It's definitely a way to get on a personal level but probably also for conditioning. I noticed he often used Jagi(ya) when he wanted Jongwoo to do something or to believe him, and it worked in a way. It's an attention grabber so to say.
I love the graph and all the categories, it’s so cool 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤. I don’t think he wanted to make his own copies, in my opinion he wanted someone who’s psychologically and emotionally similar, or someone who thinks like himself. Ki Hyuk seemed promising at first but he ultimately failed, for whatever reason. And at some point, Ki Hyuk started copying everything about Moon Jo, either from jealousy, or to grab attention or for whatever reason (I wish they showed more backstory for MJ and KH). But yea, I agree, saying Jagi is definitely to get on a personal level or to get attention on a personal level 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

He needs to be constantly reminded, he’s not used to being loved.
How can you say no to this face
He’s literally
🥺
Had a thought. I want an AU of MJJW during Covid-19 pandemic time. The series was aired just a few months before the pandemic began. I wanna daydream and discuss with y’all ; how would they react in a pandemic ?
Is Moon Jo gonna go insane with hand sanitizers ? Is he gonna wash his hands so much that his hands start to look like terminators ? How would he react when people refuse to mask ? Or when someone says “my uncle on Facebook said it’s not that serious” ? Would Moon Jo practically live in that plastic coat ?
How would Jung Woo react to having to quarantine in Eden ? He would probably kill everyone faster.
How would he react seeing people refusing to mask ? I guess, he can write a lot if he doesn’t have to go to job and can be quarantined.
During Covid, lots of couple started fighting cause they were with each other all the time. Will that happen to MJJW ? Will they be constantly at each other’s throat ? Or they would’ve come closer if they had to quarantine together ? Maybe both ?
How Moon Jo would’ve reacted when he found out that Bok Soon took someone off the street and locked them on 4th floor….. during Covid pandemic ?
I think I want the premise of entire series… but 1 year later 😂😂. I want a 2020 Pandemic version of Strangers From Hell
Was listening to something and now I have a question. What musical instrument do you guys think Moon Jo plays ?
I think, either Violin or Cello. I’m leaning more towards Cello.
My reasoning is a bit dark and I don’t mean to offend anyone. I love musical instruments myself and this is just something that popped up in my head (cause my brain has fully rotted)
Cello produces a very dark, gritty and intense music that can often describe both existential crisis and liberation. And while playing Cello, one hand is placed on the neck and fingerboard and another hand is used to maneuver the bow. It’s kinda similar to holding and choking neck and slashing with knife. It’s breathtaking, music and symbolism wise.
My other contenders are Violin and Piano of course. What do you guys think ? I’d love to discuss in reblogs and comments
As someone who plays violin themself I do agree with you on the Cello . The Cello quite grand and foreboding and definitely fits the vibe you’re portraying - the symbolism is beautiful :).Violins, however are more small and though you can definitely produce a creepy sound from a violin , when compared to instruments like the Viola or the Cello I do think Violin is less of something I can picture Moon Jo playing because not only of its sound but the way it pales in comparison to your symbolism of the Cello.
However this is all my opinions:)
Thank you 🖤🖤 and I definitely agree with you 🖤🖤🖤
