RFK Jr was against Trump, but when he needed a domestic terror network to inflict his pseudo-science and conspiracy drivel, as well as, defund functioning scientific policy/research, the guy with no education or expereince was given cover by MAGA to destroy our exceptional social safety net, the envy of the world, in the name of his malignant ego.
wormish
Tv is fake and devilish but fox mulder is the realest thing in the entire world
Fun how the bystander effect was coined to cover up how cops are bigoted cowards who let a queer person die and stockholm syndrome was coined to cover that the cops handled a hostage situation so badly the hostages trusted their captors more than the cops.
I love auto-selecting camp supplies, it’s too funny

the removal of physical media is not the inevitable progression of improving tech, its like the removal of the 3.5mm jack: purely a result of profit physical games still account for about 1/5th of all sales of video games
but by only selling digital games sony can be the ultimate arbiter of their price. they can stop you lending games and force another sale instead. they can stop the sale of second hand games and keep prices artificially high. they can set any price they want and that will be your only option.
one of the dopest and most affirming beliefs i ever picked up was the idea that everything has life or an essence of life within it like everything, down to the wooden chair sitting on the porch because you need wood to make it and the wood comes from trees and trees are living things and because energy cannot be destroyed, only transferred, a bit of that living energy goes into the things you make with wood from that tree. like genuinely acknowledging all things around you as living because what isn’t bacteria? we’re all like a collection of bacteria as it is and it’s everywhere all the time and will be until the end of time. it isn’t even about believing in god or divinity, it’s just believing in the idea that everything around you is worthy of some kind of respect and sanctity and dignity because it is just as alive as you are and i think if you lack a basic, fundamental belief in something like that, it’s so much easier to pollute the oceans and raze entire forests like if it doesn’t matter, why keep it? why be a guardian for it?
Ugh, I keep getting emails and they're not even from AO3
the problem with liking video games is that the gaming industry is genuinely so evil and needs to be wiped out

you ever just sit and realise u can’t remember 80% of your childhood? like … what happened? who am i ..?
Many people in the comments are saying “trauma”, but this is actually a very normal occurrence. It’s called Childhood Amnesia, and it’s a process which, as the brain reorganizes itself for cognitive thought that is developed in late childhood, it changes the Accessibility of those memories during recall. Many childhood memories are available to the person, but they will not be remembered during regular recall activity, you have to “trick” your brain into remembering with different tactics.
This is because there are two parts to memories - their encoding and their recall. The encoding determines their availability, their recall determines their accessibility. The reason why trauma memory and childhood amnesia are different is in this distinction. Trauma memory is often encoded differently, bypassing to the limbic system where it is stored as intrinsic memory. It can’t be recalled because it was never encoded. Childhood amnesia, however, seems to indicate that the memories are encoded, but we lose access to them as we age. This is most likely due to the development of brain structures that fundamentally change our encoding and recall of memory as we get older.
This is an important distinction, because trauma memory is “stored in the body”, i.e. you get triggers that send your body into a cascade of uncontrollable feelings, sensations and reactions. Whereas childhood memories won’t generally do that, they are just recalled at odd times with odd associations.
reblogging this because I’ve legit seen people freaking out when they realised they can’t remember some of their childhood, thinking they might have some repressed trauma.
i have a lot of thoughts on the matter but i will say that fandom moving from semi-private blogs and communities to extremely public and algorithm-driven social media was a huge mistake that has changed fandom culture for the worse
