I’m reading this book about the changing arctic and the author stayed with the Nunamiut people of inland alaska for a while and talked to this high school kid who was like “ugh I hate going to school in the spring I wish I was hunting caribou” and I thought that was charming. you often hear about people who are devoted to preserving their traditional culture and knowledge but it’s rare to hear about someone who’s invested in the old ways out of pure teenage selfishness. school is lame and hunting caribou is awesome

it's not the biggest issue but why does everyone insist on acting like they've never seen a birthmark ever in their whole life and they're going to fucking explode if you don't explain why your body looks like that to them immediately

you are going to meet a lot of different people with different looking bodies than yours and the reasons will range from things like birthmarks to disabilities to potentially deeply traumatic incidents. in general a good rule of thumb is that if you aren't familiar enough with that person for them to have volunteered any info then it really isn't something that you need to know, let alone loudly point out to them and others. other people's bodies are not a mystery for you to solve 👍

okay not to ocpost again but the worst thing about having an oc is sometimes they become The Character to you. and you need to talk to someone about it like wow I can’t stop thinking about The Character… but in order to do so you have to like sit them down and explain everything about your oc first. and then it’s just you explaining your writing ideas. i need to talk about them the same way i would talk about any random character i love to someone.
