Friday, Friday, Friday…gave my whole flock shrimp shells for the first time this evening. I had heard chickens love them so I thought why not. I didn’t want to waste them. My gang looked at me like I was a bit crazy at first for even offering such a gift. Why would they eat something that looked gray, a bit see through and full of legs. Can’t blame them really. Well, my brave chook Miss Sadie (who honestly eats about anything) thought she’d give it a try. She slowly crept up to investigate and immediately started gobbling up the small bowl I had. The rest of the gang didn’t want to be left out after seeing what Sadie thought and they jumped right in. I had expected this as this is usually what happens with any new treats. What I didn’t expect was my Friday to vocally let me know that she was not pleased with this treat and that I needed to know exactly how she felt. She squawked and paced and squawked some more. I simply told her that next time I would supply her with something a bit more to her liking. Then, as if she understood my comment, she clucked one last huffy cluck and sauntered off to let the rest of the gang lick the bowl. What a funny girl.
Shakin the fluffy butt to start the day. ❤️
I think I’ll stay safe and sit here until the others are done nit pickin over who sits where in the coop.

Penthouse please...
My little Miss Clementine is in her own blissful little world. Her world includes a Penthouse in the coop. Each night I go out to close up the chicken coop my Miss Clementine will be just inside the coop door clucking her mumma cluck cluck cluck noises…she paces back and forth with her babies dancing around her. As soon as she sees me she makes a dash for me and then as if she had hands she appears to grab my legs with her voice and drag me over to nest/penthouse. As she makes her noises her babies run to me and look a bit fidgety as if they know I’m their elevator but are still a bit timid about asking for help. I encourage them into my open hands and help them up to their penthouse. They’ll both sit on the ledge into their nest with just enough room for mumma to hop up in between. Clementine immediately jumps up and climbs in and starts her shuffling to prepare their comfy bed. Love this evening routine.
Little Chicken stories as they happen.
Hi there! I’m new to blogging. My cousin keeps telling me that she can visualize the scenarios that I text to her of my hens and chicks. I figured I’ll give writing those little stories a try on a blog so I can track my stories to see what you all think. Funny? Cute? Boring? Full of information? Who know what will become of this blogging thing but I thought I’d give it a whirl. I have 7 Hens, 2 roosters and 2 of our own chicks as well as 2 additional chicks that we are raising for someone else. (We had a broody). So…Here goes. I know I will enjoy writing my posts and I hope you’ll enjoy reading them. :) update: chicken math has struck. 8 hens 2 roosters and 3 new additional chicks. The other two went home to their other mother. 😊
