Abandoned Cityscape Book Sculpture by Liu Wei

Beijing-based artist Liu Wei carved a stunningly rugged abandoned cityscape from a massive stack of paperback books. He reshaped his materials into one body. New York City-based art gallery, Lehmann Maupin is currently featuring his work from now until April 18, 2015. Dusty, abandoned, and coarse, Liu Wei’s work is open for interpretation. The artist’s press release declares:

"Liu Wei translates the chaos of his native city, a city that is in a permanent state of development and which keeps reinventing itself to fill the exponential needs of its hyper-productivity."
