Reality check

Ignorance is a bliss, and today of all days I wish I was ignorant. If that were true I would not be feeling scared, and above all powerless.

Powerless in the face of an election that has and will affect me so much, and that I had no say in the matter.

I am saddened and scared because this isn’t just about 4 years of government. It’s about hate, it’s about the shift that is happening in the world. First the UK and now the US. The return of the cause of the 2 previous world wars, Nationalism.

I am saddened and scared because, even though I am a misanthrope, I had hope, and I trusted the American people to make the right call. To choose love, openness and acceptance. And they have failed me and the world.

Not everyone, I know there are those that fought so bravely for a better world, and feel horrible today. Even more so than I do.

And today I find myself powerless, because I will have to trust and hope again that there are people willing to fight, to stand up to the 3 now red branches of government. To try and salvage this, and try and stop the hate that wants to destroy what the last 8 years have been about.

Oh how I wish this was nothing more than an episode of Braindead, and I could blame this all on alien insects.

Today is a dark day.
