Out of curiosity, how do you manage the stress of what you do so that it doesn’t make you apocalyptically sick every once in a blue moon?

[Keys in hand, Dragon steps in front of the jail Bogard is kept in. At first, he takes a moment to just look at him. Both of them have gotten older but Bogard has definitely grown old. The cold cement floor cannot be comfortable but Dragon cannot afford to give him special treatment. Sentimentalities aside, they are enemies.]

[He opens the jail door and enters the cell. The door remains open behind him.]

Comfortable?

[The word is a drawl.]

[ bogard had finally fallen asleep, sitting upright propped up against the wall. His eyes snapped open when he heard Dragon's footsteps. For a moment, he debated pretending to stay asleep behind his hat. Instead, he took a deep breath and forced out an amused huff of a laugh. ]

As much as it gets in my age.

[ Was there even anything left to say to him? Since Dragon left, the gap between them was impossible to close. Now, suddenly, Dragon was here. With nobody watching. It was a raw sensation, knowing Bogard could let out years' worth of words he wanted to say. Yet, with Dragon in front of him, he couldn't recall any of those thoughts. He couldn't even look up at him. ]

Your voice has changed.

[ Bogard watched Dragon, the mention of the cigarettes making him keenly aware he wasn't holding them anymore. Realizing he must have thoughtlessly dropped them to close what distance he could. He didn't look behind him for the smokes, instead staring at Dragon. His grip on the bars strained. ]

[ There was a temptation to speak and try to reach out once more. An attempt to smooth over the storm of emotions, as if Dragon was still a child. Though Bogard was more than aware, nothing he could say would bridge the growing gap between them. Not to mention, no matter the words he might say, they would come out raw. His heart clawed at his throat, leaving a rasp in his voice he wouldn't be able to hide. ]

[The solder's response shifts Dragon's attention away from Bogard and back at them. He nods, acknowledging and walks out.]

[Anger boils beneath his skin like prickly quills up his arms and spine. Jaw clenched, he passes through the corridors, past all the guards and the surveillance room. Taking his time and allowing his ire settle would be ideal but he cannot appear to be dawdling in front of his soldiers. He knows the distance, though winding and lengthy, will not be enough time to calm this despicable churning current that he refuses to grant an outlet for. He just needs to hold it in, smother it down before—]

[Like a twisted testament to his hypothesis, he turns the corner and the last door between him and the outside awaits him at the end. With each step it's getting harder to breathe. Fury ripples in his arms, in his lungs until it begins to resemble something else. Something... distressing, heavy and all too familiar. His jaw clenches, tension crawling up his arms until reaching a precipice on his shoulders.]

[He doesn't breathe as he pushes the door open. The moment both of his feet touch the gravel outside a torrent of rain comes down from the sky. Dragon closes his eyes and sighs, the heavy door closing with a foreboding finality behind him. In just a few moments, everything gets soaked — the trees, the leaves, the grass, the gravel. The stones around darken and Dragon's hair drips with water droplets. His clothes begin clinging to his skin and the humidity skyrockets.]

[He grits his teeth.]

[Breathes in, breathes out.]

[Do not think. It's gone and done with, no matter how you wish it wasn't, it is. Nothing will change it now, just as nothing will change the ramifications of the rain. Even if you did, everything would still be just as wet. So push it down, endure, and breathe.]

[If he takes a detour into the forest on his way back to the office, no one pays it much mind. And if he is glad that the rain at least soaks his face so no other rivulets can be discerned, that is no one's business but his own.]

[An oddly fierce wind rattles the wood and whips against the stones of the Kuraigana castle. As it dies down, Dragon sets foot on the island and the Humandrills swarm the coast, only to retreat with haste. The swirling mountain-hills, the dense forest thick with fog and the castle looming behind the rest — all are more than enough proof of which island he has ended up on. And it seems the main resident himself is at home as well.]

[With the sun starting to set, it's too late to attempt to continue his journey, particularly with his ear piece busted. He takes it off, crushes it and throws it into a ditch as he makes his way towards the castle.]

[The Humandrills avoid him like the plague.]

[Out on the balcony Mihawk watched the peculiar movements of the Humandrills through the forest, brow furrowing as he scours the landscape for the source of the disturbance]

[He had been trying to enjoy the sunset with a nice bottle of wine, but as usual, fate seemed intent on ruining his chance at peace and quiet. His scowls as he spots the figure approaching rising from his chair to stand at the top of the steps.]

[He had left Yoru inside with his coat and hat, something he was cursing himself for now, especially as he recognised who his uninvited guest was.]

"Dragon. To what do I owe the pleasure?"

[He asked as deadpan as possible.]

Let's just call it a gut feeling.

[Mihawk doesn't shrink back at the change in tone, he was well used to people feeling threatened or put on guard by how much he was able to learn through simple observation. It was useful on the battlefield but didn't exactly make him the easiest to converse with.]

I'm only personally familiar with a select few of the people you placed upon there, and I wouldn't claim to know them that well.

[The only two on the cake that he had interacted with more than once were Beckman and Crocodile. Though he had also learnt far more than he had ever wanted to about Silvers Rayleigh through the stories of Roger's apprentices.]

But based off of what I have seen and heard about most of your 'hear me outs', you having diverse tastes isn't that difficult of a conclusion to draw.

Attraction isn't a linear road and you cannot control who you feel it towards — Dragon would know because he has tried to do so in the past, viciously. [Dragon instinctively slams the door fully against the frame when Bogard stands up and grabs onto the bars. Metal on metal causes a loud, disagreeable sound. Without looking up, he focuses his attention on locking the door, although it takes him one too many tries to accomplish the mundane task. His eyes aren't seeing what he is looking at and there is a slight tremor to his hands.]

[If there is one thing that stands out above all else as distasteful about this encounter, it is the vile proof that Dragon, too, has not changed that much from his teenage years. Bogard still gets under his skin and it is somehow even more insulting than it had been when he was seventeen.]

[The key turns finally, locking the padlock in place again just as the door on the end of the corridor opens. Dragon meets Bogard's eyes, his face a careful mask of nothing. The only thing that stands out is the air of finality in the look he gives him.]

[Without saying another word, Dragon simply walks away. After clearing through the barred door he deposits the keys into palm of the soldier that has returned to stand guard.]

The shackles are no longer necessary.
