Fact: In the game Fallout 4, you don't actually play as the Sole Survivor. You play as Nate, US Army Veteran, recently widowed single dad looking for his kidnapped infant son who just happens to *also* be the Sole Survivor of Vault 111. It does not matter if you name him something else, nor does it matter if you instead decide to play as Nora the Lawyer.

Functionally there is no difference, you are still playing the role of Nate. Only by playing a total conversion mod do you play as anyone other than Nate. But then you're not playing Fallout 4 anymore anyway.
