Why is it that every time I google something like "Are olives poisonous to cats" the top results are always like "Fun fact: Cats are carnivores! This means that they eat meat. There is no reason to include olives in a cat's diet. You should feed your cat cat food, which is dry or wet food especially designed for cats. You can purchase this at a store." like is there a single person alive on the planet who's googled "Are blueberry muffins safe for cats" because they're planning on switching their cat to a muffin-only diet??? I've been using the pet poison hotline's poison list cause it has a search function. It also tells you whether something is mildly, moderately, or severely toxic which can be very handy! It doesn't contain like everything but it might be a good place to start, it also includes plants for fellow houseplant lovers <3

Cats also like olives because they have a similar compound to catnip in them, so OP's cat likely tore open the package for that reason. I learned this the hard way the first time I ate olives near my cat :/ they're not poison on their own but the ones for people are def way too salty for cats.

Inspired by a local production of Radium Girls

If you have never heard of the Radium Girls, they are the reason for many workplace safety regulations we have today. They were female factory workers in the 1910s and 1920s during WWI who contracted fatal radiation poisoning while painting glow-in-the-dark watch dials and military instruments. This Radium paint glowed in the dark, making it highly valuable. Since at the time, radium was perceived as a harmless, a cure-all and even a health tonic, managers told the workers to "lip dip" or mold their camel-hair paintbrushes to a point with their mouths. The women would ingest the radioactive material daily. Radium made their skin, hair, and clothes glow, leading them to be affectionately called the "shining girls" or "ghost girls"

However, after a few years developed horrifying agonizing symptoms including teeth falling out, bones crumbling and the most common “radium jaw”, a condition in which their jaws deteriorated. (Caution if you do look up any photos). As these women grew sick and passed away, companies actively covered up the truth silencing the women and even hired doctors to lie about the cause of death in order to protect their profits and industry.

Despite rapidly deteriorating health and facing corporate smear campaigns, the survivors banded together to seek legal counsel. Women such Grace Fryer in New Jersey and Catherine Donohue in Illinois filed lawsuits against the companies. Yet the companies didn’t back down, as their Lawyers would push back court dates, attempting to wait out for the survivors to die before their cases could be heard in court. After years of grueling trials, appeals, and public outcry, they won landmark settlements and forced companies to take responsibility. Their tragedy ultimately paved the way for modern workplace safety regulations and established the legal right for workers to sue corporations for occupational illnesses. These settlements were paltry in comparison to what these women went through and lost, not to mention those who died before anything happened.

Celestia instantly makes more sense as a character when you ignore the princess stuff and remember that she's a 1000+ years old wizard. Of course she does manipulative trickster stuff to teach moral lessons and/or cause chaos to amuse herself, that's classic wizard behavior. Of course sometimes she's actually socially awkward and bad at personal relationships and has bad ideas that she thought were good that result in her eating shit embarrassing style, that's classic wizard behavior. Of course she lets the aristocrats and nobles run around being assholes she's still running on wizard advisor programming, she's basically trying to merlin the entire upper class of equestria instead of just a king and some knights. "Yeah uuhhh we'll release the incarnation of chaos himself from his ancient prison because we think this shy girl can be friends with him", terrible plan if you're thinking like a ruler, amazing plan if you're thinking like a wizard. Just look at Canterlot 'Castle' for five seconds and ask yourself if that's in any way a castle. No. Wizard tower, yes. Wizard.

I realized as I was looking at my most recent paintings that I actually made another Labyrinth painting of the same name in my first gallery. The differences between these two pieces only 5 years apart is really cool to see.

I’m immensely grateful for the opportunities given to me by those who saw my potential at the Space (before I did) so that it may flourish and grow beyond my imagination. While I continue to expand my works into other galleries and shows, I always love coming back home and displaying my stuff at this theater that is so near and dear to me

This monster of a piece is done!!! I honestly cannot say how many hours have been poured into this piece, but the perfectionism was really hitting when it came to this project. Like many Mexican-American kids in the 90s I grew up watching the movie and grew up with her music and the impactful wake of her influence, achievements, and death. As a child, I soaked up all I could about her, not having much other representation in the media besides Speedy Gonzalez. It is because of her my love for performing was born. This is my love letter to her legacy (yet still not incapsulating everything she had done). In my usual way, hidden within the piece are some of the song titles.
