DETAILS: Hello, is it Pia you’re looking for? I’m going to go on an adventure to find a new island, and I need your help! Thankfully, with my dandy handy fishing boat, our voyage will be free. What are you waiting for?

Popuri remembered that Pia talked of an adventure, and was curious about the event. She’d never gone off on an adventure before, and it sounded fun! Picking up a piece of paper with Pia’s phone number (or place of business), she quickly rang up and luckily caught her before she left. After a few minutes of talking, Popuri finally asked and was allowed to go. “Great! I’ll meet you by the coast. This’ll be fun!” She giggled, hanging up and quickly heading out.

      Other species? Popuri wasn’t exactly wrong, but Pia hadn’t heard it put so blatantly before. Why not just call her by her name?

“What? Really?” her eyes grew wide as her friend led her to the safety of the farmhouse,

“Do you think they’re friendly?” It seemed the chicken lady wasn’t the only clueless one around here! “Maybe if we give them some they’ll go away!” Closing the curtains of the nearest window, she’d peek between them to try and catch a glimpse of some otherworldly being. No such luck.

“Well.. I had so much fun at Julius’s sleepover that I wanted to see you again! You’re the only one of us that lives on Arcadia, so it was a long trip! Are you happy to see me?” Not that she minded. Knowing firsthand the pangs of a lonely heart, Pia would do anything to hang out with some friends!

Popuri looked through the window too, only seeing fields of flowers. “No, they have to pay for them like everyone else!” She pouted, before glancing back at her friend. “I’m super happy to see you! I’m sorry it took such a long way. Why didn’t you swim?” She tilted her head, remembering that Pia was a mermaid. It might’ve been faster, since she had a thin frame without her transformation. “You’ve come at a good time at least, I was just cleaning up the shop and replacing the flowers.” 

Popuri threw one more glance before letting out a sigh. “You must’ve scared them off, thanks Pia! Would you like to help me clean up, then we can go to this cute cafe in town?” That’s where her beloved worked.

Kelsey listened carefully to Popuri’s description of her brother and decided he would like him if he ever got to meet him. The boy giggled softly at her ‘cooped up’ pun and glanced back at her again, grinning.

“I hope so! I’m p-practically Ying’s big brother a-already, and Micah is supposed t-to adopt me! What if he has other k-kids, I’ll be their big brother too!” Kelsey shrugged, checking a street sign carefully to make sure they were still headed in the right direction. “I like h-helping.”

Tilted her head, looking over at the young boy. “Who are Ying and Micah?” She  asked, tapping her bottom lip. Adoption? Did Kelsey not have a mommy or daddy? “It’s good that you like helping, or else I’d be in a peck-le!” She giggled, bringing out her notebook. “My brother Rick is the one who got me into chickens. He would spend hours training them for showing, and I loved watching him work. When I got older, I helped my mother with the flowers more than chickens. But I still love them!” She giggled, and began to rifle through some of the entries. 

She showed one to Kelsey, scribbles of little chicks and chickens on the page. “Now I mainly draw them, but I sometimes try to tame them like you can!”

      Recalling the wonderful (and 100% innocent) time she had with Julius and Popuri in his hotel room, Pia lamented that the only way she could visit her fellow pinkette was by boat. Thankfully, the mermaid had the foresight to invest in such a means of travel, and though her fishing boat was far from luxurious, it served its purpose well.

     Though this was technically an unannounced visit, there was no doubt in her mind that Popuri would be happy to see her! Inhaling the aroma of fresh begonias as she made her way across the woman’s supposed place of occupation, the mermaid soon found herself up to her head in flowers. How on Earth was she ever going to find her friend now?

Popuri was inside of the store, cleaning up the shelves and adjusting the pre-made bouquet on her counter. She didn’t mind if no one really came in, the smell of flowers and colourful sights kept her happy about the last-minute choice. The only thing missing was her baby chickens, which would come later. She started to hear someone call out from the field, gasping. “A-Aliens?!” She squeaked, hiding behind the counter. Then, the voice got closer and she could hear her name.

She swallowed her fear and stood up, opening the shop’s back entrance to the field of flowers. “Hello, other species!” She rang out, trying to sound proud. Suddenly, Pia’s face appeared. “Oh, Pia! What are you doing outside?! Aliens have come for my flowers.” She quickly ushered the mermaid in, closing the door. “Whew. I’m glad to see you! What brings you to arcadia?”

Nami paused, eyes narrowing slightly to survey Popuri’s face as she completely glossed over everything Nami had to say. Had she done it on purpose or was Popuri just… like that? Nami slowly took her drink, caramel milk tea, and sipped it. She decided that Popuri was just like that, and probably intended no offense. “I don’t mean to be biased, but this place is my favorite place on Arcadia. It really is quite magical.”

Nami finally had to place her cup down and just stare incredulously at Popuri. “Okay, okay, you have got to tell me, what’s up with all these bird puns??”

The food just happened to be placed down as Nami was speaking, and Popuri licked her lips. Taking another sip of lemonade, she began to dive right into her food. After a few bites, she began to speak once more. “Does it have real magic? Will I grow wings like a chicken?” She giggled, laughing at the idea. She’d look silly! 

Though when the question of her puns were asked, she hesitated for an answer. “Puns? I don’t think I understand egg-actly what you’re talking about.” She seemed quite confused, worried that her new friend might be hearing strange things!

Kelsey watched on in confusion as Popuri tried in vain to remember where she living. He realized exactly where she meant after her first guess, but stayed silent to see if she could figure it out on her own. Kelsey smiled when she pulled out her phone to show the picture of the Inn and nodded to the woman.

“Yeah, I know h-how to get there. F-follow me miss.” He instructed, turning to lead the way back for the woman, eyes sharp to make sure no other chickens might attack.

“Y-You have a brother? What’s his name? I have a s-sister named Quinn but… I don’t really know w-where she is…” He muttered, swinging his arms back and forth lazily.

Cheerfully followed, her head in the clouds as always until the question popped up. Speaking over the muttered part, she twirled in place. “My brother’s name is Rick, he’s sooo nice! He taught me how to tend to chickens, and helped me with the watering and let me put flowers in his hair. Though he always acted sooo serious, it was boring. He never let me go out by myself, I always felt cooped up.” She pouted, looking down. Popuri didn’t understand why they felt like she needed to be protected.

Then she glanced at him, and smiled. “You’d make a good big brother though, wouldn’t you? You protected me from the mean chickens, and you’re helping me get home! You remind me of Rick.”

Pandora watches carefully, “Um-” she tried to correct the other’s mistake, but it was too late. “Yes….yes  you just…follow the colors.” She watches the song begin, and sees the pink haired female begin to play the game.

She is both stunned and amazed, someone who hasn’t even played the game before playing as if they were born to do as such! Now, Pandora couldn’t help but actually want to try the game herself. Maybe it’s her constant superiority complex that is causing these feelings to arise.

As the song ends, Pandora finally unfreezes, “Oh, yes…you put your name, excellent work, minion! I am impressed with you!” She nods in approval.

“But….you did not listen to my instructions carefully, and that was a mistake on your part….I said in order to obtain that backpack you wished to have, you must play the game on the ‘Normal’ difficulty, not the ‘Hard’ difficulty….”

She clears her throat, “I will be back with your prize, then I hope you payed the 100G to play this game.”

She goes into the back, her magical scarf that trails her every move appearing for a brief moment, before disappearing. She comes back a few minutes later, holding a plastic bag containing a mascot bear kigurumi.

“Congratulations on winning, minion! I expect these kinds of results for you in many other competitions as well!” She hands the prize over, nodding and having a approving smile.

Popuri looked down at the plastic bag, tilting her head in confusion. “Oh. Yeah I put the money on the table there!” She said, pointing to the small stack of 100G. “Can I play again? I really want the cute backpack.” She said, before pulling out 200G and handing it over to the woman. “This should cover two, yes?” Turning back to the machine, Popuri searched for another cute song on medium. Finally she found one, a sweetly fast paced tune, and began working once more.

And once again, she won.

Popuri finished the song without a struggle, but sweat began to roll down her face. Gross! “Uhm, is there a drink I can have?” She asked, inputing yet another chicken emojii as her high score name. She looked over at the winning signs, and tapped at the bottom note. “It says here I also get a mag-nah? What’s that?” She questioned, looking through the snacks. Oh they have such cute little sodas!

At her new job, Pandora was given the task to dress as a character while she was working. Due to not wanting to wear a wig to ‘mask her visage’, she had to take a while to find a costume that would fit her hairstyle, but after a few hours of searching, finally found one. So now, she has begun working.

Not a lot of time passed, before she hears the bell ring, signaling the door has been opened.

“Hmph, greetings, minion, what may I obtain for you today?” She steps away from the counter, walking towards the ‘customer’, looking curious. She didn’t really get a chance to see who it is.

“We get new items every once in a while, if you’re looking for someone we don’t have, then that is the best likely way to obtain it!” She finally gets a glance of the ‘customer’, stopping in her tracks.

Popuri was knelt down, staring at a Totoro backpack through the glass. She blinked once someone had noticed her, and suddenly stood up with a blush. “Oh! I’m sorry. I got lost and found myself here, but… that bag. What is it?” She asked, pointing at the grey and white raccoon-bag. She looked around, seeing a lot of different things she never really saw before. “This place has a lot of cute stuff!” She exclaimed, before noticing a DDR machine.

“What’s this?” She questioned, looking over at the saleswoman. She was wearing a costume too, Popuri realized! “Oh my cluck, you’re sooo cute! Do you wear those costumes here all the time?” She asked, a large smile on her face.

“This bag?” She picks up the grey and white bag, “Ah, yes, this is a bag that my boss has told me, is from an ‘animated film’ called ‘My Neighbor Totoro.’ I am apparently required to watch that soon.” She looks around, “Cute things? It depends on your taste, I believe!” 

Seeing the DDR machine, she points to it, “It is apparently a ‘video game’ where you stomp on the arrows in time with music….it’s quite popular, among minions!”

Hearing the compliment, Pandora’s cheeks flush, and her ego grows ever so slightly, “But of course, I am cute! That is one of my many likable qualities! And yes, all employees are required to wear costumes a uniform.”

Popuri’s eyes seemed to sparkle in excitement, watching the colours flash. “How much is the cute backpack?” She asked, slightly bouncing with excitement. When she heard Pandora talk about working here, a little squeak came out of her mouth. “That’s so cluckin’ adorable! I wish I could wear cute costumes at my job. But I work outside, it’s okay though because I’m helping make beautiful flowers!” She proclaimed, throwing her hands up in joy. Popuri loved her job, more than most things, but not more than chickens. 

Popuri walked over to the DDR Machine, looking at it with awe. “Do we have to buy the machine? Or can we play it here?” She asked, looking back at the saleswoman.

“This…’cute’ backpack….has a special requirement for obtaining it! You must win at the ‘normal difficulty’ on this game! It is put in the rules of the store.” It’s like she read them, or something.

“When she hears the other female’s squeak, she listens, for once, to her carefully, “Ah yes, flowers? I admire them. They are wonderful for tribute, and have great magical properties if you can find a way to use them, they are suitable gifts for myself, minion.” She crosses her arms, smiling a bit, having conversations with adults is usually troublesome for Pandora, but this conversation puts her at ease.

“You may only play the machine here, and if you are feeling alone while playing, there is an option for two people to play at once! Though, if you aren’t prepared, I do believe you should not pick the hardest difficulty until you’ve had proper training.”

Popuri smiled wide, and jumped onto the dance pad. “I just have to win this machine, right?” She asked, her finger pressing various buttons. She didn’t really hear the part of what difficulty, and chose the hardest. “So I just follow the colours, right?” She asked, and the music started playing loudly. The arrows rapidly flashed on the screen, and at first Popuri seemed scared... but then...

Her feet began to touch in beat, body easily gliding across the mat and even her hands joined together to clap with a smile. “This. Is. So. FUN!” She exclaimed, using the balance bar behind her to steady herself at certain intervals. Finally once the song finished, big yellow letters saying “NEW SCORE!!” flashed up, and Popuri was breathing heavy. “Oh? I put my name in?” She asked, looking at the saleswoman with a wide smile.

Popuri’s eyes widened and she quickly took the menu, scanning through it. Her stomach seemed to get bigger as she read off each menu item, before laying the menu flat and looking at the server. “I’ll haave… That flower lemon cake! And uhm… Fettichini pasta with Alfredo sauce? And a lemonade please!” She said, folding up the menu and handing it to the hostess. Once the woman walked away, she focused back on her new guest. “I’m sorry! I don’t think I introduced myself. I’m Popuri, I recently moved. I don’t think it was very nice to pull you in with me, I’m so sorry! I can be a big cluck-tz sometimes…” She exclaimed, a blush on her face.

She looked closely at Nami, leaning in slightly, and tilted her head. “Wait… aren’t you a girl? You work here right, so why don’t you wear those pretty dresses?” She questioned, blinking a few times. Nami’s short hair and buttoned up attire confused her- what kind of girl wouldn’t want to wear dresses and let their long flowering hair grow? Nami confused Popuri, which made a small pout fall onto her face.

Nami was casually folding her napkin when she looked up at Popuri in confusion, concern evident in her eyes. “Uh… Popuri… you told me your name outside. Remember? That’s why I’m treating you to dinner, because you said you just moved here.” Nami slowly set the napkin down and reached a hand across the table to place over Popuri’s. “Hey, is your memory alright? I mean, aside from clearly knowing way too many chicken puns.” Nami winked at the pinkette, but confusion and concern still prickled in her chest.

She supposed that it came with the job, the urge to protect. Nami decided to walk Popuri home after this.

Nami blinked at Popuri in confusion and tipped the chair back onto all four legs, folding her hand in front of herself. “Popuri, i feel like I have to tell you this is kind of an invasive and rude question. That being said, I will tell you because I’m not offended easily. But I thought I might warn you for other people, if they get angry at you and you don’t know why.” Nami took a small breath, pulling her mouth to the side and shrugging.

“I really fucking hate dresses. I think I look much better in a suit, not to mention I’m more comfortable in a suit than a dress. And yes, I’m a girl but that doesn’t mean I have to act like some ditsy princess. That’s bullshit, I like ripped jeans and fighting if that gives you any indication of the kind of person I am.” Nami paused. “Am I making sense?”

Popuri blushed brightly, and waved her hand with a giggle. “Oh! I’m sorry! I forget things sometimes. I guess this place is just so magical, it’s like everything in the outside world disappears!” She quickly explained, hoping to cover her mistake. But just as Nami was explaining about Popuri’s political incorrectness, the drinks arrived. 

She squealed in delight as the lemonade was brought down, quickly taking the straw into her mouth and taking a sip. “Oh my! This has to be a yolk! This lemonade is sooo good!” Her feet kicked slightly in excitement, making the table bounce a tiny bit. Finally she noticed Nami was saying something to her. “Oh yes! You’re a very kind chick. You helped me find this amazing place, and you’re keeping me company! You remind me eggactly like my friend Lyla, she’s new too! Oh you have to meet her, she’s sooo pretty and sweet!”

Popuri frowned a bit, noticing how the small child easily tamed the wild beast, but quickly it was replaced by a large smile. “Thank you so much! I was over in those flowers, studying a cluster of hens and this rooster must’ve gotten mad!” She said, her cheeks puffing and pointing a finger at the rooster. “You should be nicer to strangers!” She scolded, and the chicken gave a loud cluck with a quick flap of his wings, causing her to squeal and hide behind Kelsey. 

The chicken sauntered off after showing his dominance, and she noticed the boy was severally out of breath. “Oh no! Are you okay? You didn’t have to rush over that fast, hun!” She said, seeing the redness of his cheeks. Her fingers smoothed out the creases in her red dress, before standing up right and putting her hands on her hips. “Well, it seems like I should stop winging it when it comes to Beast Taming.” Popuri giggled at her own joke, before looking back into town. “I… forgot where my room is. Do you know the town well?” She said, looking back to the boy. Popuri had a tendency to dabble without realizing the other person was talking.

Kelsey chuckled at Popuri’s accusation directed at the rooster, leaving it to walk back to his hens. The boy’s eyes widened as he felt his lungs clench painfully in his chest. He put up a hand to wave off Popuri’s concern, wheezing painfully. He fumbled with his inhaler, taking a deeper puff this time. He stopped enough to breath in and out carefully, hand gradually unclenching the front of his jacket as the pain ebbed.

Kelsey let out a relieved breath, turning to look at the pink haired girl, flashing her a thumbs up. “I’m o-okay ma’am!” He reassured. He burst into chuckles at her bad pun though, needing another puff to settle.

He looked up in confusion, then turned to look into town. He shrugged. “Kinda? Do you know what a-apartment or i-inn? you’re staying at?”

Popuri tapped her bottom lip in thought, before clapping. “Yes! Yes yes, I live in the Three Brothers Hotel.” She nodded, smiling wide. Then it dropped. “WAit... no... that’s not it. Uhm, Two Twins Motel? No, that’s stupid... Erm... It’s something related to family...” She began to go into thought, before letting out a large sigh in frustration. “I always forget these things! That’s why my friend Lyla got me a- Oh wait!” 

Reaching into her dress pocket, she pulled out a small pink cellphone. It was covered in small pink faux-jewels, and the background was a large fluffy chicken. She tapped around on the screen, before turning the phone to the boy. There was a picture of her posing in front of the Three Sisters Inn, a large smile on her face. “This is where I live!” She smiled, giggling. “I was so excited, I took a picture to show my brother back home.”

Popuri quickly followed behind, an excited look on her face. Instead of walking through the door herself, she grabbed onto Nami’s hand and dragged her inside at the same time, the door closing behind. Her eyes widened as they scanned the atmosphere. People were in maid uniforms and suits, serving others various cakes and teas. The entire place smelled like a freshly baked pastry, and her stomach growled in response. A random host came to seat them, but Popuri had already dragged Nami off to a table she saw was cleared, sitting down and slowly smoothing out her dress.

Her dainty hands folded together on the table, looking around with an almost frozen surprised look on her face. “This place looks so amazing! Are all the shops in this place like this?” She asked, turning around to watch a waiter carry over a small cake towards another table. With her small frame and excited look, she seemed like a child in a candy shop. Popuri wasn’t use to being served, nor going to an expensive restaurant like so. Normally her money went only to medical bills, or school expenses.

Nami’s eyes flew open as Popuri tugged her into the building with a great force, her expression shifting to a laugh. She thought she’d like this girl. She was bubbly and energetic to a boot, not to mention absolutely adorable. Nami sat down at their table, tipping the chair back onto it’s two back legs.

Nami smiled at the pinkette after she waved away the hostess’ offer of a menu, stating she’d ‘just like my usual please’. “Nah, none that I can find quite add up to this place.” She spoke in sot awe, eyes casting around in affection. Nami’s eyes followed Popuri’s excited look at a passing pastry. She shook her head in amusement again and nudged her menu more towards her. 

“That was a flower lemon cake, but there are a lot more in here. They have macaroons too, and even actual meals. Their pastas are my favorite.”

Popuri’s eyes widened and she quickly took the menu, scanning through it. Her stomach seemed to get bigger as she read off each menu item, before laying the menu flat and looking at the server. “I’ll haave... That flower lemon cake! And uhm... Fettichini pasta with Alfredo sauce? And a lemonade please!” She said, folding up the menu and handing it to the hostess. Once the woman walked away, she focused back on her new guest. “I’m sorry! I don’t think I introduced myself. I’m Popuri, I recently moved. I don’t think it was very nice to pull you in with me, I’m so sorry! I can be a big cluck-tz sometimes...” She exclaimed, a blush on her face.

She looked closely at Nami, leaning in slightly, and tilted her head. “Wait... aren’t you a girl? You work here right, so why don’t you wear those pretty dresses?” She questioned, blinking a few times. Nami’s short hair and buttoned up attire confused her- what kind of girl wouldn’t want to wear dresses and let their long flowering hair grow? Nami confused Popuri, which made a small pout fall onto her face.

Popuri looked behind the redhead, pursing her lips together and tapping her index finer against the bottom one. “Ohh… That’s why you’re dressed funny.” She mumbled to herself, not in a crude way but more so a ‘Ahh I get it’ way. She was shaken from her thoughts with the hand held in front of her eyes. Quickly her small hands wrapped around the other, shaking it excitedly. “Yes I am! I moved in with my best friend just today!” She exclaimed proudly, hands now placed on her hips.

The smell of pastries and tea wafted over to them when the door opened to let a customer out, followed by the light sound of giggling and clinging of dinnerware. Popuri smiled brightly, clasping her hands together in delight. “Mmm! That smells soo yummy! It’s eggactly what I was looking for!” She clapped in excitement, before remembering the stranger. “Ah yes. I’m Popuri.” Her stomach growled loudly in response, and a blush appeared on her face. “I’m sorry! I haven’t had a bite in nearly a day!”

Nami frowned in slight offense, putting a hand to her chest. She thought she looked damn good. The feeling was quickly washed away as Nami listened to the girl continue to talk. Oh. She’s a child. Okay.

The redhead cracked a smile, placing her hand on her hip to glance into the building that she cherished enough to protect. Then she quirked her brow up in confusion, turning back to the girl. Had she just said… Egg…actly? Was that a pun? What the hell, this girl was weird, but in a really adorable way actually.

Nami shook her head in amusement and turned to pull the door open. “Well me can’t have that, can we? Since I’m in a good mood, and you’re new here,I think I’ll treat you to dinner. This place has the best teas and cakes, so at least I know you have good tastes.”

Popuri quickly followed behind, an excited look on her face. Instead of walking through the door herself, she grabbed onto Nami’s hand and dragged her inside at the same time, the door closing behind. Her eyes widened as they scanned the atmosphere. People were in maid uniforms and suits, serving others various cakes and teas. The entire place smelled like a freshly baked pastry, and her stomach growled in response. A random host came to seat them, but Popuri had already dragged Nami off to a table she saw was cleared, sitting down and slowly smoothing out her dress.

Her dainty hands folded together on the table, looking around with an almost frozen surprised look on her face. “This place looks so amazing! Are all the shops in this place like this?” She asked, turning around to watch a waiter carry over a small cake towards another table. With her small frame and excited look, she seemed like a child in a candy shop. Popuri wasn’t use to being served, nor going to an expensive restaurant like so. Normally her money went only to medical bills, or school expenses.
