I randomly thought about the Hammerhead, as well as the Tyber family, little is known. A thought occurred to me: "What if..." And then they appeared. Neither Vita nor Erna influence the plot of AOT; they are merely part of what was happening in the world. They are just another Eldian, left behind the scenes because they don't change the world or join the fight.
Vita is a representative of the privileged Tyber family, the heir of the Hammerhead. Her Hammerhead, like most of her family, didn't participate in battles. The tradition of passing on the Titan was maintained only so that they could keep it. She died before the main events of the anime.
Erna, however, lived in Eldian camps, in a family that desired results from her, to live a better life, to atone for past sins. Erna was certain she didn't have to pay for that past with her life, but the older she got, the more her own sins tainted her soul. She left this world, just a couple of years short of the world's liberation from the Titans' oppression.
