backstory -

trapped for hundreds of years, collector taught philip aka belos magic and helped with the day of unity in exchange for being set free. belos did not hold up his end of the deal however and collector was freed by king to stop the day of unity.

collector effortlessly did so in promise of a game called “the owl house”. they turned every person into his puppets literally but then he would eventually learn you don’t treat people like that and that humans/witches can’t be repaired as easily.

appearance- a small child dressed in sun and moon themed pajamas. white hair, orange-y red eyes with one side of his face yellow and the other purple with freckles underneath his left eye.

"You..." spinel paused ....gosh they really drilled it into him .... then she spoke kneeling "you don't have to be a collector or what they say ....you could just.....be who you want to be ..like what do you want more than anything?"

" Aww! That's so sweet!" Collin smiled, cupping hands together only to float up into the air and clap them together to summon his floating castle.

" This is my archive. " he gestured towards said castle, " I got a bed in here and everything. "

.. when it came to the question of what he wanted more than anything. They paused, tabbing foot in air with arms crossed and hand on chin. " Hmm.. well, I really want to play make believe again. I mean, the last round turned out to not be that fun in the end but I can do better this time! "

"What if it....it doesn't have to get made...up and you could actually have a family?" Spinel gently offers up her hand to hold...."i.. think if I'm guessing....you went through somthing similar?. Someone treated you badly... right honey?"

Collin' eyes softened up for a moment, curling into himself as he didn't like to think about it but he did still have those memories..

He looks at the offered hand for a second, listening to her words and pandering them.

" .. Belos lied! He was a big meanie and he used me! I was trapped under that titan for years and all because of something I didn't even do. " he could feel tears start to form in his eyes.

" he said he would free me after I helped him with his plan but he lied! he lied! he lied! he lied! He was a big fat liar! "

"Oh...baby" spinel's gem ached for him......this poor kid...he'd had it worse than she did ....the gem stretched her arms out and pulled him close into her arms wrapping her arms around them tight literally acting as a safety quilt "I'm sorry....nobody should ever make a child go through that....ever"

Collin sniffled, finding himself wrapped in a warm embrace and laying head on her chest where he noticed the shinny upside heart. His eyes widened, his little touching it. He wants to add it to his collection but it seems like if you pull one of those from a gem's body, they go poof! He didn't want Spinel to go poof :(

" .. my friend freed me but I got a little carried away during play time. I turned people into puppets, made the Boiling Isles into my own playground. The witches didn't want to play with me after that and so, I decided to leave.. cause I got a lot of growing up to do, y'know. "

technically the term for Collin's species is Archivist but it is still funny to see Spinel go " you don't have to be a collector"

like, girl, that's literally his species. It is like telling you that you don't have to be a gem.

" a room? for me? " he tilted head to the side, finger to chin, " but.. I'm not a collector of rooms. "

"Aw, that's good! I just wanted to make sure you weren't allergic." Black Star wanted to confirm with a soft chuckle. She would watch Spinel pick him up and smile. "Hey bud, why don't you tell me a lil' about yourself?" The Diopside was addressing Collector.

" oh, uhh.." they placed a finger to chin, eyebrows narrowing as he considered the question. " well. I'm a Collector! I collect mostly puppets and toys but some of my siblings and relatives can even collect things like nightmares and dreams or human emotions. "

he let out a little giggle, kicking his feet as he sat there looking at Black Star.

" I like collecting people too but I learned the way I used to collect them isn't really nice, so.. yeah. You two are definitely part of my collection now though, ehe! if you're willing to be part of it, that is. "

"Sooo I found this kid he's got no-one and I gotta say... if I had a heart it'd have melted he's powerful but he clearly needs guardian figures

"They did what to him? That's horrible!" The shorter Gem exclaimed, eyes going from her girlfriend to the child presented before her. Black Star had met a number of children with cruel or absent parental figures. It made her want to scoop up the little guy and hug him.

Although Black Star was hesitant to call herself parent material (fearful of not being good enough.) Regardless, her shape-shifted heart had begun to ache for him. "I just have a question before we decide on this." She has a look of sympathy, then continued. "Is he comfortable around cats?" The reason Black Star asked, was because she owned eight of the fuzzy babies in her cabin.

Collector blinked innocently as he was being presented to the gem in question.

" Oohh! I love cats!!" he happily exclaimed, not entirely sure what was happening right now. He didn't know the word 'adoption'. He didn't collect words, he collected people! .. uh, not as much anymore since what happened in the demon realm with him turning everyone into puppets and learning that was not an okay thing to do.

" I'm not a gem, silly!" Collector waved a hand at what seemed to be a funny notion until he noticed this shinny rock in Spinel's chest, tilting his head curiously. " Oooh! You're one of those rock people, aren't you? Haha! I never met one before! So cool!"

Spinel Just chuckled before softening stars...he reminded her of what a younger version of herself was like....sweet...innocent she offered her hand to shake "I'm Spinel....what's you're name kiddo?"

Collector grabbed her extended hand with both of his, shaking it really fast as he hovered a little above the ground with a big smile.

" Oh! It's super duper nice to meet you, Spinel! My name? Oh, uhh.. well, everyone just calls me The Collector or y'know, Collector for short."

She tested it on her mouth "ugh...sounds like someone in charge lil man... like..like white" spinel shudders at the memory of her finding out about her past... "what about....Collin?"

Collector didn't quite understand what she meant, looking rather confused for a moment. Each archivist had the title of collector and the only way to differentiate them was what they collected would be added. In this case, it would be the Collector of Puppets but there could very well be a collector of abstract concepts such as emotions or dreams.

" Huh..? It does? " he frowned to himself, not being fond of authority figures himself but quickly lit up when he heard the nickname Spinel came up with as he never really had his own name before.

" Sure! You can absolutely call me Collin!" he smiled brightly, not really having a name that was just his own. He wasn't exactly the Collector of Names but he did like the one Spinel chose for him.

"Awww well I'm glad you like bud" spinel reaches out to ruffle his hair in a joking manner as she blinks concerned looking around "were are you're parents.....?" She stretched her neck upwards like a slinky doing a full rotation before her head slamming back down on her shoulders with a squeak

Collector couldn't help but giggle at this display, sitting in the air crisscross apple style. " you're funny. I like you!"

"Well my old job was a playmate for one of my planet's leaders " she blinks staring at the hovering child.... "how....how are doing that?"

" Hm? " Collector titled their head to the side only to look down and let out an oooh in realization only to shrug his shoulders, " eh. It's just something I can do."

"That's awesome...but maybe keep the powers on the down low kiddo it might spook folk since they've never seen you " she's concerned for him

Collector let out a giggle at the request but he did listen, floating down until his feet touched the ground.

" Okay!"

" What a silly question! you're in the Boiling Isles obviously!" Collector happily answered.

Spinel Just chuckled before softening stars...he reminded her of what a younger version of herself was like....sweet...innocent she offered her hand to shake "I'm Spinel....what's you're name kiddo?"
