“How about something warm? It’ll help you sleep.”
The soft, almost timid voice next to you came from the youngest of the brothers. You two were wrapped up in each other, limbs intertwining and bodies pressed as close to each other as possible.
You always had problems sleeping. Ever since you came to the Devildom, for whatever reason, your brain rejected sleep- for the most part. Maybe it was your body and brain not necessarily adjusting to the time difference— the fact the sky never really changed— or unfamiliar environments just set you off. Whatever it was, it had been a plague for the months you've been here.
“What, warmer than your cuddles?” You quip to the demon, your arms curling around him more firmly. You hear him softly chuckle as his hand moves from your back to your head, fidgeting with your hair.
“A warm drink,” Belphegor practically purrs, “Barbatos brought us some tea quite a while ago. I could get you some.”
For whatever reason, a nice warm cup of tea sounded especially good right now. “Sure,” you answered, and like that, the demon had lifted you up in his arms and started carrying you down the halls of the House of Lamentation to the kitchen. For half of the way, at least- Both of you forgot Belphegor isn’t nearly as strong as his twin, Beelzebub, and he had to set you down and start letting you walk roughly halfway down the hallways.
The moment both of you got to the kitchen, Belphegor swooped you up once more- having regained his strength- and set you on the counter. When you questioned him, he simply said he wanted to do this for you after everything you’ve done for him. A sweet notion, if it wasn’t as bitter as it was. Remembering all the times you’ve had with Belphegor brought up loving memories just as well as regretful ones.
Wrapped up in your head, you hadn’t even noticed Belphegor making you the tea he had mentioned until the kettle hissed and whistled, signaling the water was ready to be poured and the tea would be added. You watched silently as Belphegor bustled around the kitchen, the most energetic you had ever seen him, pouring two cups of boiling water and the same flavored tea packets, dipping them up and down in the water to stir around the tea that seeped from the packets. He gave you a soft smile over his shoulder when he noticed you were watching him, and soon enough he was done, carefully handing you an almost-too-hot mug of tea.
You shuffled off of the counter and took it in your hands, and the both of you walked back to his room with soft conversation, gentle giggles and silent sipping. You ran into Beelzebub on the way back, who was surprised you both were still awake, and explained he was going to get snacks when you asked. With compassionate exchanges, you went your separate ways, and when you and Belphegor got tucked back into bed, you were fighting sleep. You tucked into the demon’s side, his tail curling around you being the last thing you felt before you drifted off.
