a poem I wrote to myself ••• “I know that you are trying to fall back in love with a life that’s left you broken, trying to find your place in an unfair world that has not always been kind to you, trying to cope with trauma that’s been left unspoken

I know that you are struggling, overcompensating, self-medicating desperately trying to numb the pain trying to pick up the pieces dealing with consequences of decisions that were never yours to make

I know that you feel like you are crashing, crumbling, falling apart it feels easier to give up, to let go, to follow in the footsteps of those who left you here alone

I know that you are preaching of love and kindness that you can’t give to yourself and it’s hard to be a friend when you can’t even be a friend to yourself You’ve let your heart grow cold because emptiness is easier than the emotions of your own personal hell

but, I know that there is a fire inside of you that cannot be ignored I know that you are strong; You are destined for so much more
