fwoosh! a way past familiar streak speeds by, its usual amber glow slowed enough to reveal the distinct black and red underneath. 'course, it only takes a quick snap before blue's added to the palette.

"i'd say we gotta stop running into each other like this, but," an impatient flick of an ear betrays his breezy attitude, "this leisurely stroll's hardly what i'd call 'running'."

though sonic's pretty sure the stars' hognapping has nothing to do with the stolen emeralds back home, shadow's appearance is an exciting change of pace. they can swap intel later (assuming the other hedgehog won't just ditch), but first...

"you are heading someplace, right?" his speed increases in time with his spirit, juuuust a smidge faster-- juuust enough to push shadow's buttons. "so what's the holdup? didn't leave you stranded here with less juice than me, did they?"

of all the-- jet?! he sure wasn't expecting to bump into that guy on another world. s'pose if he'd find him anywhere, it would be someplace like a skate park, though.

...sonic wouldn't call it relief, but, admittedly, it's nice seeing someone he actually recognizes. even his squawky rival, yes; when push comes to shove (and especially when it's worth his while), he's been dependable enough.

"man, is it weird seeing you without your usual gear..." his 'greeting' just behind the hawk's line of sight-- the easy quirk of his lips falling somewhere between friendly and taunting. he takes a long sip of food court soda before continuing. "and where's your crew? flew south without 'em hoping to catch some 1-on-1 action? judging by how bored you look, i'm guessing no luck?"

no luck finding anyone on their level, that is. well, there's an easy fix to that, then, isn't there?

new shoes? if this is their way of apologizing for the speed cap, sonic's got a wordy complaint for the folks in charge. until he can get that refund, though... why not take them out for a spin while chatting up the locals? turns out the pastel seafoam-pink gradient sneaks don't do much more than bring out his eyes, anyway.

speaking of! that... spiralean (couldn't quite pick up on all the lingo during his initial runaround) looks spiffy; it wouldn't be a bad opener, meeting them where they're at.

"yo! got a second opinion to spare?" he prompts before directing the stranger's attention toward his shoes, asphalt receiving a solid toe tap. "be honest-- how're we feeling the new spirale-assigned kicks? could use a bit more oomph, don't you think?"
