post chapter 3 castletown swatchtenna stuff from whiteboard. Grinnnnnns. ive wanted to draw this one for a while it's. quite self indulgent and idk if its super fully in character at all but it's a scenario i find myself thinking about a decent amount.

anyways. myyyyyyy swartchtennars. i wanted to draw more of tenna struggling Bad in castletown and beginning to Get some help and went into a bit of a flowstate on this one... this wouldn't be directly after the events of him getting cleaved / recovering. but would be in the wake of everything bc hes #struggling and still #doingbad and needs a lot of help and is afraid to ask for it because well..... The last time he begged for help everyone left. haha.

ive talked about this prior but i think tenna is somebody whoooooo is not in a state to be able to reach out for help very much himself. he needs a Lot of help and is still in an incredibly fractured state not just due to his arms being cut off but also just. his whole world, everything and everyone and everywhere he knew has been pulled from under him in a dramatic and violent way and Years of bottling things up and burning the candle from both ends has resulted in him stress crashing. it's not something i think he'd be able to recover very quickly from and due to his Issues he tends to hide his "brokenness" leading to. well. more and more pushing himself beyond his limits before he breaks again.

At current, the way i personally see swatch's kinda .role ??? in castletown - since they are still like. a butler or whatever + is seen helping with this kind of thing (cleaning / food prep / whatever) - he's like. kind of in a role as a wallflower who ends up overseeing some amount of things that happen around town - they're stationed pretty centrally in town after all, and being involved with queen means they see plenty of things, and they end up making their own rounds around town.

Also no Tenna does not reach out after this (#trustissues #selfimageissues #internalizedableism) but... well. if i were to do some kind of continuation of this it would likely involve swatch continuing to try and reach out. He wants to stay true to his offer here even if it's not something asked for directly

mmmyyyy secret is that i love swatchtenna (particularly castletown variants) even though i dont draw it a lot i spin them around in my brain sometimes. and my other Secret is that even tho this rec is specifically for Of Paint and Poison its also a blanket rec for all of WingsofWinter's fics bc theyre all really good.

For this fic specifically i like the elaboration on Swatch's powers and the way they're able to interact with others through their magic since we don't actually see that in the game bc hes well. a shopkeeper and its used in a really cool way in order to explore tenna's emotional state while he's in castle town and in an active state of deterioration (and giving tenna cathode poisoning is really clever). its very sweet + i have a big soft spot for stuff where tenna's able to get cared for. i like sickfics a decent amount but even outside of this aspect this fic + WingsofWinter's other fics are really well done. definitely give their work a shot!
