#10 Trip to Art Stage 2017

On 14th Jan, 2 weeks ago, I bought a ticket to Art Stage. I did not know this event also happened last year. So I thought i might not want to missed out this year too. I was curious and excited what beautiful art works i will get to see in this big exhibition. So i picked up my ticket and went.

Usually I would visit the exhibiton or galleria alone as I feel that I can appreciate the art piece at my own pace and understand them. Also the time I spend in exhibition is usually takes up to about 2 hours, I don't think anyone can accompanied me for that long if they have no interest.

I am not sure if it's because I grew up with Japanese influence, interest in their culture or it’s the touch behind each art works create by Japanese artists. I realised that I tend to get attracted by their art pieces like strong magnets. Don’t get me wrong, I have many other favourite artists in my idol list.

By the end of this trip i have many more artists to look up too! :)

#9 Christmas Carousel

Christmas Carousel market was held on 3 - 4 Dec 2016. It was an interesting 2 days of fun~. I had created some Christmas design card and also 2017 calendar! So happy to see many people smile at the calendar designs and like it. :D

#8 Food & Venture Weekend Market

On 9 Sep - 11 Sep there is this 3 days weekend market at Millenia Walk mall!

Usually 2nd half of the year is pretty busy yet fruitful one. It’s really comforting when you have people appreciate the art you created and even to talk about it - chance to converse with them and their interest!

I am a rather introvert person but during artist market i will push myself to talk to people and hold conversation with them, it’s nerve-wrecking but it is a learning journey for me. I really like listening to people’s life experience and stories, they can be so intriguing and motivating! Like when i received request for illustrations or card embroidery, i listen to their story and do my best to create an artpiece that is unique and close to their heart.

Thank you for those who came down and support all the local artists!

Look out for the next artist market and i will be creating new works!

#7 Colourfulstrings X FLOR patisserie

I got a chance to hold a workshop with a Japanese inspired cafe, Flor patisserie. It is a very sweet and cosy cafe located at Duxton, also a good place to chill out on a quiet afternoon.

The workshop was held on 10 Sep 2016, I was thrilled to be able to share with people my interest in paper embroidery, to share an artistic and therapeutic afternoon together over tea and cakes!

Because it is a Japanese cafe, the embroidery theme was around Japan and her culture, so i came up with a series of 5 different designs templates for the workshop.

Everybody is so skillful~ Thank you so much for participating!

#6 Night Festival 2016

This is a backdated entry (Oops, i needa get my shit all together and update my site and other platforms)

So I had a booth at the annual Night Festival this August! Let me see what i can remember - so many things had happened!

I had new art on display including the summercats postcard and badges and the new set of framed up embroidery.

It was a fun night meet up with fellow artists, meeting people of many interests, meeting new people, talk about art, talk about other stuff. It was a 5-6 hours event from 7pm - 1am, so it was indeed tiring and interesting one~ :)

#5 Paper Embroidery Workshop

I hold a workshop on 10 July, it was my first time holding a workshop and it was exciting and nervous at the same time. The outcome was good and participants were really good at their crafts~

Looking at Stars is an embroidered piece on original watercolour painted illustration with famous quote from Oscar Wilde. One of my favourite quote! I incorporate my favourite quote with my drawings and stitched it up!

#3 Being a boss for a weekend!

So today is the first day i took over the pop up store! to be honest it was busy and tiring... but it was fun too! From serving the customers, look after the store goods and artists merchandise handling social media to cashier and packaging. I had bad experience with cashier machine in when i was younger so i was actually pretty nervouse about it today. I must say things goes well today! :D

Tomorrow is the 2nd day and last day i will be taking over the store so do come down for a visit!

I have a couple of original new art pieces available in store too!

#2 PopUp Store

Before writing this post, i look back at the what i had written for the previous blog entry...

oh boy, I am really very bad at blogging huh. haha.

really need to buck up on this area...

Oh right, i have been going around artist market in my country with a couple of my creative artist friends and one of my customer who comissioned a artwork from me had open up a pop up store in town and currently i have some of my illustrations in the form of postcards and embroidery craft in store. My works is under the name of Colourfulstings, so do make your way down to the store if you are interested in my works! :)
