merry christmas chiomies!! || ☆彡
I’m really sorry for the wait! @kisecchinosedai, I had the lovely opportunity to be your secret santa this year, and it was loads of fun! You’re a lovely person and I hope we get the chance to talk more about our ships! I hope your holidays have been great so far and that you enjoy this mini one-shot I wrote!
Daichi’s eyelids are still heavy as he peeks an eye open. Groaning through a yawn, the familiar dull ache brands his hips and thighs, forcing him to recall last night and wonder if he should have picked another time to rile up Kuroo, who sleeps undisturbed with his arms loosely draped over his waist.
Pale rays of sunlight peek through the blinds of windows put in place by an architect who should’ve known better. Daichi’s eyebrows knit in frustration at the warm stripes of light warming his glowing skin. In any other circumstance, he would have moved, but he was already lost in the softness of pillows, and the gentle reassurance of Kuroo’s body against his back as the pair sunk into the mattress.
Their bed is warm, the droughts chilly in comparison, and just as Daichi shifts to get out of bed and try and get some breakfast started, Kuroo’s leg drapes over his own to stop him.
Kuroo murmurs a demand into the crown of Daichi’s head. “Five more minutes.”
“I get it if you’re tired but why do I have to stay here?” Daichi sighs. Kuroo’s grip around his waist tightens, pulling Daichi tightly against his body like an oversized pillow. Kuroo’s long legs tangle with his own, and he can just about feel Kuroo’s slow breaths fan the top of his head. Kuroo hasn’t replied, but his grip is like trying to wiggle out of an iron cage, and Daichi’s tempted to give up in defeat.
That is, until he remembers that he has plans. Plans that Kuroo made him delay purely so that he could come too.
“Tetsu, you do remember that I have to buy a suit today?” He asks, and Kuroo nods lazily, brushing his cheek against Daichi’s head as he does so. Daichi shifts, turning to face his partner as Kuroo tries to shake away the stray hairs obscuring his sight. His hair is as messy as it’s always been, framing his drowsy expression and parting lips in order to make Daichi almost melt on the spot.
“Mmm. For the wedding, right?”
“So get up so we can buy those suits.” Daichi groans. His mother had insisted on having him take Kuroo as his plus one from the very moment she passed on his invitation. Although he’d laughed it off, to Daichi it was clear that Kuroo was nervous at the idea of attending a family member’s wedding, especially one that he’d never met before, but he absolutely adored Daichi’s mother- maybe more than Daichi himself- and was agreeing before he realised what he’d gotten himself into.
“A few minutes never hurt anyone.” He retorts, obviously more awake. Daichi groans. “I’m tired from yesterday.”
Surprisingly, Daichi doesn’t roll his eyes, but his entire expression steels in annoyance for a moment. “Let go, Tetsu.”
“No ‘Good Morning?’ I’m hurt.” Kuroo complains, even when his voice is laced in drowsiness, it still manages to fall back into his teasing lilt.
He still doesn’t budge. Daichi’s not surprised, he’s fully aware that Kuroo is more cat than boyfriend. He tilts his head back to press kisses along the column of Kuroo’s neck - unhurried and tender as his tight grip on Daichi melts as he sighs in bliss. Daichi then ruins the moment, pulling himself out of Kuroo’s grip when his eyes are half lidded and hazy.
“Looks like I’ll be making breakfast.” Daichi comments. He always wakes up a good half hour before he actually leaves his bed, he doubts that this will be an exception.
“Don’t worry about it. We can just buy coffee after we leave.” Kuroo says as he stretches, still wondering how it’s possible for Daichi be such a natural early riser.
And he wonders why he can’t save for shit.
Daichi’s well aware that he should say no, but the offer is tempting, especially as he isn’t the one having to foot the bill for once. So he shrugs, and tells Kuroo that he’ll shower first, mainly because he really doesn’t feel like dragging him out.
And because Kuroo’s too endearing to resist when he’s just woken up, Daichi turns back just so that he can press his lips to Kuroo’s in a short kiss.
It’s not too chilly outside, enough for Daichi to forgo gloves without loosing the feeling his fingertips, but the wind is so harsh that it felt like a fight to get to a coffee shop. They ended up going to Kuroo’s favourite shop, mainly out of habit as they had everything he needed to recover from his gruelling classes; free Wi-fi and extra shots of espresso for free.
“You already have the shoes, don’t you?” Kuroo asks. Daichi nods as he takes a sip of his cappuccino. It’s subtle, but Kuroo catches his eyes widening in satisfaction and it makes a grin tug at Kuroo’s lips as he can’t help but feel a little warmer inside. “It’s good, isn’t it? Even Kenma likes some of their stuff.”
“Really? I didn’t really take him for a coffee drinker.”
“To be honest, he’s not. He just makes them drown his shit with syrup until he can pretend it’s not coffee.” Kuroo explains, cracking up a little bit, but stopping when he remembers the look of pure confusion on Daichi’s face the first time he broke out into a fully blown guffaw.
“Finals must have gotten to him.” He comments, relieved that Kenma’s at least seems to be pretty laid back. He can’t think of a single one of his old teammates that he’d be able to tolerate on a caffeine rush. Maybe Ennoshita? Definitely not Suga, as he learnt during their exams in high school.
“While we’re at it, do you want to grab lunch when we’re done?” Kuroo asks.
“Are you sure? What’s the occassion?” When Daichi asks, he doesn’t miss the faint tint of coral to Kuroo’s cheeks as he looked away from him. It wasn’t too common, but he knew Kuroo was trying to think of something smooth and had gotten himself flustered.
Later that afternoon, after endless questioning over lunch, he finally got Kuroo to admit that he just wanted to spend some time with him after being so busy with exams to take his boyfriend out.
Merry Christmas @chiomies!! It is I, your secret santa hohoho

Merry Christmas Rabbit @gundham! I hope you enjoy the Midotaka fic I wrote and hopefully you have/had a wonderful day!
Midorima readjusts and tugs at his scarf, the irritated sigh that follows is broken by a slight shiver as the icy chill renders his lips dry and chapped and his skin numb as the cold settles. It’s already dark by the time he’s left his lectures, the gray sky fading to a matt black canvas. He can see a few stars here and there, but only if he squints. He’s just thankful that his apartment is only 10 minutes away.
He checks his phone for the time. It’s only 20 past 5, Takao said that he’d call before 6. A smile tugs at Midorima’s chapped lips, until he catches himself in the middle of it and his cheeks burn scarlet.
While walking home is nothing new, the first few weeks of university are foreign. He didn’t underestimate the effect that the new change that it brought, but it didn’t remove a single bit of the impact. He was expecting to go from the vice-captain of a top high school basketball team to another first year brat- he’d done it before when graduating from middle school. It still didn’t stop him from feeling strange without his old teammates, or even his terrifying old captain to threaten him and the others.
Takao’s probably going through the exact same thing- likely worse as he was the captain.
Midorima can’t get home soon enough, throwing off his pea coat and slinging it on a coat hanger as the warm of his home fights off the prickly cold. He reckons that maybe he should eat something, but he’s already tired and rarely does he trust his cooking skills for more than toast or reheating the food his parents send, of which he currently has none.
He’d forced himself to try to eat something, settling for instant ramen, when Takao calls him. Immediately, he throws it away, he’s not in the mood for snide remarks after the years he spent complaining about Takao’s own terrible diet.
Midorima’s eyes widen when he sees Takao, and immediately he’s thankful that he bought Takao a better webcam just before he left. His hair is a little longer, and he can just about trace grey bags underneath his eyes, his cheerful grin is unchanged, and the warmth in his voice as he cries out the old nickname is enough to make him swoon. He’s long since stopped asking Takao to stop calling him “Shin-chan” and even though Takao hasn’t said anything, he doesn’t miss a thing.
“How’s med school going?” Takao asks, and it’s only then that Midorima notices the heaviness in his voice. It sounds smooth, husky even, and he wants nothing more than for Takao to keep talking.
“You haven’t been sleeping, have you?”
“Didn’t think there was any point in hiding it.” He shrugs. “It’s nothing big, I just have some papers I’ve been trying to finish off. Anyways, you didn’t even answer my question Shin-chan!”
Midorima takes a deep breath “It’s just as bad as they said it’d be.”
Takao winces. “Ouch.” He hisses in sympathy, though his lips are still curling into a grin. “Well if it’s any consolation, you’re looking like you’re in a better state than me!”
“That’s not too difficult, Takao.” He retorts. Rather than annoyance, Takao laughs so hard his cheeks are pink by the time he’s regained his breath.
“I feel like I should be offended by that, but I’m still tired out from basketball yesterday.” He groans, slumping over his desk and giving Midorima a peek at the abysmal mess behind him. “Starting over again feels so weird, doesn’t it? It could be worse, I could’ve been the one who went to Kyoto study medicine.”
Guilt lurches in the pit of Midorima’s stomach as he looks away, and Takao’s immediately ushering an apology.
“It’s fine. I do miss Tokyo though.” He admits. He misses Takao. He missed these calls, where he can feel like he has Takao all for himself for a few hours.
“Well, you can be sure that Tokyo misses you too.” Takao says, with a smile that feels forced. Being away from Tokyo feels bittersweet. Midorima’s happy whenever Takao’s smiles, but it’s during times like these where he wants to wrap his arms around Takao’s waist and not let go until he admits he has a problem with Midorima moving.
“Takao, what are you doing before Christmas?” Midorima asks. He’d planned to keep it secret until the last minute, but he’s still speaking despite himself.
“Not much? I guess I’ll probably be dragged so some people’s parties, and then I still have gifts to buy. Why?” Takao asks, steel eyes staring at Midorima, waiting for him to speak as he hesitates.
“...I’m going to come back to Tokyo as soon as my classes are over. I wanted to know if you were busy.”
“R-Really?” Takao asks, and the childlike glee in his voice makes Midorima melt. “Are you serious?”
“Mmm.” He hums, and Takao’s lips are curling into a smile that he’s not even trying to fight back, one that crinkles the skin around his eyes and lights up his already beautiful features. Midorima’s a little proud that he could draw out such a reaction from him, to make Takao that happy just with a few words.
“Thank god! I’ve been going crazy here.” Takao whines. “When are you coming? I’ll meet you at the station! It can be like those cliche airport reunions you see in dramas.”
“Don’t even think about it.”
“Come on!” Takao groans mocking offence through his laughter. “It’s not like you even hate those that much!” He winks, giggling and making Midorima’s heart pound against his chest, and wonder how he managed to get someone like him to accept his confession.
It’s only when a strained yawn forces its way past Midorima’s lips, that he realises that it’s almost 11.
“It’s getting late, isn’t it?” Takao murmurs, looking into his webcam with half lidded eyes. “You should go to sleep, I don’t want to get in the way of your classes from hell.”
“Then you need to stop slaving over those essays and get some rest Takao.” Midorima sighs, thankful that Takao didn’t ask if they could talk for longer, because he’d give in without a doubt.
“Fine, I promise I’ll go to bed, okay? Goodnight Shin-chan!” He waves, smiling just as brightly as he was hours ago thanks to Midorima’s surprise.
“Goodnight.” Midorima says, a small smile escaping him before his boyfriend hangs up.

it’s been proposed that corporations will now have to list all their foreign workers. companies with “abnormal” numbers of non-british employees will be penalised

im sorry to everyone who has ever tried to talk to me and then realized my communication skills are equivalent to a stale piece of bread
a reminder for nonasian people
you know… with this rise in interest in east asian culture and “aesthetics” over the past couple of years also comes with a rise in asian cultural appropriation… so for every nonasian out there who would consider themselves a fan of cutesy asian things or stuff like kpop or anime, you guys have an obligation to people of the culture you’re enjoying to be informed and educated about their struggles. it’s not right to love and consume cultures that’s not your own while ignoring the people who are part of them. read up on appropriation, the fetishisation and infantilisation of east asian women and desexualisation of asian men, whitewashing in media, xenophobia, the erasure of our achievements and the model minority myth. you owe it to us east asians to be educated on topics that concern us if you’re going to continue to consume media and content we make.
EDIT: if you’re nonasian please reblog this so that other nonasians can see it!!
