Hi!!! I’ve been on here a while and finally have decided to make an introduction post!
I’m interested in finding more writeblr moots my age :>
This post will be updated over time!

I like reading realistic fiction, YA, sci-fi, dystopian, post apocalyptic, or really anything interesting :))
My comfort writing zones are realistic fiction and YA, but I've started branching out recently! currently into scifi!
I post writing excerpts, moodboards, and other writing things
some fun facts? I like musicals-- my favorite musical is Newsies. My favorite books areThe Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson, and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte <3 Final fun fact is I love nature and forests!
my wips are, as of 8/15/22:
Zom Boy (working title)-
This is a scifi / zombie apocalypse wip (! my very surprisingly first zombie wip!). Started this one because of one specific scene I kept thinking of! It’s about a sweet and scared girl who lives within a safe zone and who, on a scavenging run outside the walls, meets a boy who hides among the zombies!
Inspired by The Zombie Song (song) and Warm Bodies (movie) !!
Completion:
This was SUPPOSED to be a short story, but I wrote 14k words in a freaking FLASH between only like 3 different sittings and I’m only at the rising action ffs.
Taking a pause from writing to read other stories, as well as let this story stew in my mind. Not sure what the next steps in the outline are so I need to sort it out in my mind for a few days or weeks before I’m comfortable continuing!
Memos From Offworld-
This is a scifi wip (! My first scifi space wip!) about a mechanical technician moved from his little Mars work colony to a transport spaceship in deep space, run by a small all-girls crew!
Inspired by the Long Way to a Small Angry Planet (book) and Red Dwarf (tv show).
Completion:
I’ve written 1k words as a tentative starting place, but it’s still only in the brainstorm stages because I only have the idea and not the actual plot. it’s stewing as of right now! this one was supposed to be the long wip vs my Zom Boy short story wip, but that might be flipped or totally disregarded, and both turned long. we'll see!
Did I Mention (working title)-
a fantasy romance story about a witch who charms a prince into falling in love with her, for revenge against his father.
inspiration is obviously disney Descendants lol. I wanted to do a take on that idea of a love potion!
Completion:
it's in the outline stages!
In The Woods-
a webcomic about a girl travelling through her kingdom trying to find her parents after her village is burned down
Completion:
I’ve been working on this one for YEARS. I’m currently working up the courage to start writing another draft, and after that’s done or mostly done, I’ll start drawing it. This one’s always on the backburner.
School Fears-
a play about a girl realizing she is afraid to die while also trying to make the most of her senior year of high school.
Completion:
I’m not sure where this one stands. The writing is all done and all that’s left to do are the songs. It’s a personal project but I’m kind of over working on it, so I don’t know :/
that's it! kind of a lot for a pinned post but yk. :)
reply or reblog or follow or whatever!! I just want some writer friends! !
the thing with romance for me is that you need to convince me through behavior and dialogue that the characters enjoy spending time with each other and seek each other out. even with enemies to lovers a foundation of mutual respect goes a long way. you can be like "he's the youngest ever general of the dragon slaying guild and I'm secretly a dragon, but he's the best swordsman I've ever fought and our sparring matches are the only thing that make me feel alive ever since my family was killed." if he implies something similar then bam, you have a reason for the two of them to hang out even though one of them knows it's dangerous. you can't be like "he's a dragon slayer and he's mean to me all the time but the flex of his arms when he swings his sword is just too sexy." it does not matter how many times you have your protagonist say "I shouldn't be drawn to him... but I am" if you never show a real moment of connection between them that draws them together
me: what do they bring to each other's lives? what do they admire about one another? what draws them to each other?
story: love :) :)
me: ok... so what is that going to look like now?
story: like love :) :) :)
me: are their personalities going to clash at all? are they going to have arguments? learn to compromise for each other? will they need to adapt to sharing their life with another person? is it going to be smooth perfect harmony from day one? are they going to be always together? see each other sometimes as their occupations allow? how does this relationship affect their lifes.
"An initiate's mana could be imagined as a flame. Most are small candles to bright torches. And we at the Order help these flames flourish into something useful... but you're a raging wildfire."
sometimes when I'm writing I'm like oh fuck i dont know what comes next uggghhh guess I'll just have to make it up :////// bitch... ur making the entire thing up ...it's fiction... thats the fuckin premise
Dude I was reading a comic or short story where ai bots became so pervasive that they filled social media, and someone thought they found a safe space from them (it was Reddit LMAO?) where people talked in code (elitespeak) and one quote was like “@ me4tup” and using __ to fill in letters. Etc etc. And people would ban bots so it was safe. But they realized that these were bots too, and the bots were banning eachother for not being “convincing enough”. It was really good but I didn’t save it or anything and then I went to bed??? WHAT WAS IT!!

the actual reason I consume mediocre media is because I have bad taste. the deeper secret pretentious reason is because I think there’s something very revealing about bad media that you don’t get with good media. when you watch a poorly executed plot point unfold, you see the machinery behind it. you see the gap between what’s actually on screen and the true goal the author is striving for. if it’s particularly awful, you can even measure just how poorly mismatched the author’s skills are with the story they’re trying to tell you. watching a poorly executed narrative play out feels like you’re discovering something, because you see all the wiring and guts underneath that better authors hide from you, in the same way that movies hide boom mics and books make you forget you’re turning the pages. if a story is good and executed well you just see the story. but I want to see the guts and wires!

This is the drawing of a horse from a manuscript from the 13th century. (Wien, Österr. Nationalbibl., Cod. 2742*)
It's from a copy of Priest Wernher's driu liet von der maget ("Drei Lieder über die Jungfrau"), a three part vernacular retelling of the life of Mary. The horse is just some sketch in the front, in between unrelated little tidbits. Right beneath it it says "Wer daz pferd hat geschriben der ist ein guter gesell" – which roughly translates to "the one who drew this horse is a cool guy". (The rest of the sentence is really hard to read, my colleagues and I (one being an expert on medieval handwriting) tried to decipher it, but couldn't make out the whole sentence.)
I used this image in a workshop I held about the use of AI in Higher Education. I had it as the intro image and waited till the end to explain. Because the point I was trying to make: The ultimate reason why we write is to connect as humans. And it doesn't matter if it's a silly little horse badly drawn in the manuscript of a religious text. You cannot imagine the joy my colleagues and I had when I stumbled on this image purely by chance, I immediately ran across the whole institute to show it to everyone. They printed this horse on the Goodbye card when I left and I keep it in my new office.
It's not about how beautiful something is, how well crafted, how perfect. Ultimately, it is about sharing the human experience, to connect to people, even if it's centuries into the future. People will be people, and I will always think of that looking at that horse.
if you're cringing at the genre conventions of the genre you are writing in then why the hell are you writing in it. either have something substantial to say about those conventions or shut the hell up! i will not cringe alongside you at superhero powers and spaceship battles and big eldritch worms and bone magic. i came to this story to SEE that shit and I don't appreciate it when an author tries to pretend they're above the very things they're selling themselves on
stop wink wink nudge nudging me about how silly the genre is, asshole. i like that genre. I'm reading your story because I like that genre. your wink wink nudge nudging just tells me you're too unoriginal to deliver an actual critique and too irony-poisoned to unabashedly enjoy the clichés. again I ask: why the hell would you waste both of our times like this
honestly this is true even of genres I don't particularly like! i don't even enjoy romance all that much, but if I'm reading a romance novel, i expect there to BE romance novel trappings in there, and am therefore pretty fine with them existing. there are an awful lot of romance clichés that I hate, but it's still not cute or clever to include them just to laugh at them. why would you disrespect your own genre in such a substanceless way. say something true and beautiful NOW!!!!!
