She titled her head curiously, one hand coming up to scratch her head. A cartoonish gesture.

Really, this week was getting better by the second! Another new possible friend!

The bat blinked for a moment, before tugging the hood of her jacket over her head. "W-who are you?" She asked, hair somewhat puffed up with slight unease.

She giggled, taking a step out into the light.

"Calm down! I'm not gonna hurt you - believe it or not I'm not one of them. Of anything, I adore the unusual. For I myself am a part of it. One way or another. But you're a kind of unusual I've never seen..!"

"Oh... are you... a mutant perhaps?" She asked, relaxing a bit as she released the hold on her hood. "I-I'm... I'm one of those... just... one of a kind since I'm technically not human."

"Meh, more like outerworldly being. I don't come from here! I don't even know what I am, but you can call me Renny!"

She held out a hand.

"Well? Cmon, I don't bite - hard -"

Tentatively, she took Renny's hand and shook it. "...Vira." she replied, her gilded-spotted eyes looking somewhat uneasy, though it's slowly melting away it seems. "...I am a bat mutated by a virus... it should've turned me into a monster... and yet I didn't."

"A lucky chance event! Seems your biology is more special than I thought ~ I know that makes me sound creepy, but I'm really just so interested!!!"

"Ah... it's fine." Vira muttered. "I'm used to that talk. Especially from both the Government and Umbrella."

"Eugh, don't even get me started on the government..."

She shook away the thought, as if the very word gave her the jeebies. She had a very long history with the government of this universe...

"Mhm... why must they be so nosey? I just want to live!" She huffed, frustration clear in her voice. "I-I mean... I know why, and its because I'm most likely one of a kind, but... still."

"Not nosy, just curious! Cmon - you can't go through life asking no questions..! If you saw yourself for the first time, you'd ask too, 右?"

She smiled to herself at the thought. Her meeting herself...

"To be honest... I'd be intrigued by myself. But sometimes the questions get too invasive, you know?" She chuckled.

"bah, boring! But I won't poke. Not nice to do so.."

She turned back to face her.

"What were you before???"

"A bat." She replied. "I was a normal bat before my mutations."

God, little her would've freaked and said something about "Stellaluna"...

But now, she just raised an eyebrow.

"oh? Must've been quite the transformation. You certainly don't seem dangerous..."`

"I am somewhat dangerous, I guess. I have to spray disinfectant on myself to prevent others– and sometimes myself– from getting sick." Vira revealed, chuckling to herself. "Otherwise, everyone else could get sick from... well not the virus that made me this way, but... more common illnesses."

"Well, that's pretty normal when handling any normal animal. Just didn't expect it from you."

She almost smiled, but was too tired to commit to the action.

"I got rabies once."

"...you what?" Vira blurted. "Rabies? That's- That's not a disease many people walk away from–"

"Yep! But I did!"

She smiled proudly.

"I'm er... not going to question it." She trailed off.

"That's a pretty good idea. Alright -! I have to get back before Leon realizes I'm not in bed and starts spam calling me!"

Vira was a sitting duck... metaphorically speaking.

She had just transformed into the monsterous beast she should've permanently been transformed into to take down hordes of zombies, the taste of their rancid blood, guts and sinew still lingering on her tongue. And while all of them were defeated, she couldn't exactly... leave.

Because at that moment, her newest enemies were both time... and the tiny ass doors not meant for giants like herself.

"Oh just knock the walls down." Can't risk injuring herself more like that. She already broke a lot of shit internally to transform.

"Well transform back!" Transforming back into that form takes a lot of energy. Energy that she doesn't have right now... also everything will hurt like hell afterwards.

"So are you just going to wait until you can transform back?" Yes, that's exactly what Vira is going to do.

Unfortunately... nobody told her that she wouldn't be alone. That someone would be approaching her location, unaware that the Ukrainian agent... was also an enormous fuck-off bat monster.

"Tough week?" She inquires in a Slavic accented voice.

He said as he gave her a once over.

Is everything okay?

She sighs. "If you call constant prodding okay, then yeah... things are okay..." The woman then reaches out a gloved hand. "Oh... Where's my manners... Vira Hlushko. I'm also on vacation after..."

...how does she make a normal story out of "My body is screaming in absolute pain because I was forced into transforming into a giant bat monster, and afterwards I was forced into yet another appointment where I was given multiple mystery chemicals"?

"...a workplace injury. I got hurt after accidentally falling onto my back..." ...great lie, Vira.

He firmly shakes her hand and nods.

It’s pleasure to meet you, Vira. I see, people nowadays really take their employers for granted. Things definitely need to change.

"Mm..." She nodded her head as she was handed her drink. "I wish my employers were much kinder with me. Instead I'm just led into the same retraumatizing bullshit... over... and over... and over again."

Huh? We have a lot more in common than I thought…

And I need a drink too.

"I can get you a drink if you want, Мій друг." She smiled, revealing a sharp-toothed grin.

As he spoke he sat on the couch and patted a spot next to him.

She nodded, before taking a seat next to him. "It was my mother tongue, Ukrainian. I used to speak it a lot more when I was a child... at least until I was forced to learn English when I moved here..."

"Long story... but I was stubborn in not wanting to learn." Better to tell part of the truth then to tell a half-truth in this situation, she thinks. "English is, in my opinion, a bit of a clusterfuck, if you get what I mean."

I mean, I get that, it’s quite complicated in terms of Grammar, I’m sure there’s must be a more simple way to it, but we don’t have a choice for the matter, can only work with what’s given.

Chloe was ecstatic to find another BOW project rescued by the DSO. She had heard of others, but she hadn't met that many.

"Hello!" The child chimed, admiring Vira's bat-like features.

"I think we might've been from the same place!"

Vira looks down at the child, grinning as she chirped: "Oh, Привіт little one! Look at you! Er, what do you mean by that? Did Umbrella make you like that too?"

"That's right! But I'm friendly, promise." She answered earnestly.

It had been a difficult truth to adjust to, but over time, Chloe's origins began to feel like just another fact about who she was: her hair was brown, she was six years old, and she was the result of genetic experimentation.

"You're a bat... Can you fly?"

Vira chuckled, her dark brown eyes filling with amusement. "Well not like this! I could if I get into my much scarier form. But I don't think you would want to see that."

Chloe's tail fluttered when the woman laughed, it felt to be with her rather than at her, which she took much comfort in.

"It's okay, I've seen lotsa scary things." She answered with a slight air of confidence.

"But I don't wanna make you do it if it hurts... Your voice is pretty, I like how it sounds."

"Дякую, сонечко!" Vira laughed, once again smiling at Chloe. "I like your tail. It is very pretty."

The girl gave her tail a little shake for good measure, before another thought crossed her mind.

"Are the DSO nice to you?"

"Nicer than Umbrella." She responds. "They help me with my food and my health. But, they also do tests on me. Just in case."

She looked around and then leaned in, conspiratorially, dropping her voice to a whisper.

"What tests do they do to you? Are they nice to you? They said they have to hurt me to help people but... I dunno..."

She trailed off, shifting anxiously.

"To be completely honest... no. They hurt me more than they help. I will spare the details, but... they've done some mean things to me." Vira stated, looking away. "They're better than Umbrella, that's for sure."

Vira didn't need to explain any further, Chloe already knew exactly the sort of things she had been subjected to. She had experienced the same.

She looked up at the woman, wracking her brains for something comforting to say.

"I'm sorry nobody's been nice to you." The child finally answered. It wasn't the profound wisdom she hoped to come up with, but it was sincere.

Vira smiled at Chloe, her face still somewhat gloomy. "...it's okay. I'm... able to cope with it." For a moment, she thought of how she coped. Did she even have a good coping mechanism put in place?

The bat huffed, before concentrating for a moment. After a while, a sickening crunch could be heard as two bat wings painfully sprout from her back like snakes hatching from eggs.

"Ah, shit... I liked that shirt." She muttered, before using said wings to join him in the tree. "Erh... I wasn't born like this.
