Fior has been an Emissary for many decades now and he has travelled a lot, making him comfortable in expressing himself in a variety of languages. So when the stranger remains silent, Fior automatically starts to sign—a habit really. He repeats what he said moments ago. Maybe the person just didn't want to talk, but either way, Fior had still signed the words fluently.

"Were you on your way in?" He signs as he speaks quietly.

He's sure the urn isn't already in transit yet, so if this person wants a few minutes to pray or give a final goodbye, Fior is sure it can be arranged.

Felix's eyes drifted down to the other's hands and he frowned. Yes it was good to know someone could understand him, but signing back to him wasn't necessary. "You don't need to sign back to me. I can hear you. I'm not deaf" he responded and mouthed the words.

"I wasn't going in. I was walking around". He had no interest in churches nor funerals. Not unless they could help with his job, this one certainly didn't seem like it would.

Handling crisis has become a thing for them, it's why they'd been put there in the first place; to manage the scandal her predecessor had left for legacy. She has a thousand things to do, but still finds ways to delegate what can be done by others who'll do the job as good as she would. It's that or be burried in work and be overstressed.

Kali reads the response and nods. "Yes, that I know we'll have to oversee to ensure fairness, but my idea was more about offering the actual gifts to our staff and their children for a Christmas Party. I know I am early to some degree, but I want to make sure, we'll have time to make it happen without jeopardizing the quality of our regular work." They care about the people and they want their department to not feel like they're drowning in work.

"I apologize if I didn't express myself well." It's more than wanting to make a good impression or prove themselves, the HR Director has learned that happy staff makes for great results, so if she can do something to stimulate that within reasonable budget, she'll try.

Felix scratched the bridge of his nose as he tried to think of another way to word this. The one downside of writing his responses was how long it would take sometimes, and how he couldn't convey tone. This sounds like something the C-Suite should be doing, not Human Resources. Perhaps your focus should be why your depart is over on your recruiting budget and not this.

Kali has been there for just a month, following the scandal surrounding her predecessor. She's been doing her best to fit in after being transferred from London. Right now, even though, people are celebrating Halloween, she's already thinking of Christmas. She knows it's customary to have a party and offer some gifts, but she'd like to make something for the families too this year.

It's why she's in Felix' office, document in hands to show her idea. She prefers to run it by Mister Asanyi and have a budget approved before talking with Marketing. "Thank you for letting me show you this." They sign as best as they can. They'd learn with the help of a deaf coworker back in London. They've just been a bit rusty. "Do you think it'll be doable?"

The team was swamped with the month end reporting, as they always were. No matter how hard they tried to prepare themselves, they always seemed to get stressed at the end of the month. It was like herding cats. Felix did his best to stay calm during all of it, but the stress sometimes got to him too.

It was a miracle that there was a free slot on his calendar, and a shame that someone managed to snag it for a meeting. He was hoping to use that time to take a walk, or get a coffee, or stare out the window and disassociate. But no, he had a meeting his HR.

He blinked at her proposal, wondering if there was a better person for this, or if this was even important at this time. He didn't bother signing back, he had given up on expecting anyone in the company to learn or understand how he communicated. He grabbed his legal pad, one he kept by him at all times and wrote on it. Employee Appreciation budgeting is broken up by departments. Each director is in charge of how they want to spend it. If you want to spend that for your department. Go for it.

Oh, woe is he to have all attempts at some friendly team bonding fall through. All Reinaldo wanted was for their little secluded corner to be inched into the spotlight for once. Have the entirety of finance be seen as something more than those stingy budgeters that get in the way of the company's more ... frivolous expenses. That and, perhaps, bridge in the accounting team just around the corner. Together they could have been — well, not unstoppable, but certainly showstopping.

Turns out — everyone's a critic!

If it wasn't a 'this idea is certainly an idea' this, then it was a 'no, just... no' that. Which, sure, maybe his off the cuff themes weren't the best, but at least he tried. Everyone else just kept their eyes latched onto their dual monitors and kept themselves stationed with horrid posture.

Alas, here he is — popping bits of candy corn into his mouth to totally not feel some modicum of joy. And, no, he's not sulking by the strangely off-colored punch bowl located in the breakroom. Even if he holds onto a shitty plastic cup filled with said mysterious punch that, quite honestly, matches how he mopes about. "So what do you think it is?" Dark eyes peer over the rim of his gaudy yellow shades to address the nearest person. "What kinda combo do you think can give something this shade of.. yuck?"

Felix had told Reinaldo it was a dumb idea. In fact he told him multiple times through various forms of communication, as he always did. But it was in one ear out the other for his boss (as it often was). Now Reinaldo was moping and playing a game of oh woe is me. Felix of course had to be there to support him and listen to him complain. There were many days where he wished he had lost his hearing instead of his voice.

He leaned against the wall, being the ever supportive coworker and part time friend (maybe even only friend), and signed very lazily back while mouthing the words, "Probably nothing that should be served during an office party". He was going to stay away from the mystery drink, for good reason. "Should you be drinking that?"

—At a church. Afternoon (Uptown)

Ninety-six. What a life for a mortal man with such a huge family and friends in attendance. Clarence had been a great man to his community and the legacy he left behind him is beautiful. Fior is saddened at the loss, but today, at Clarence's wishes, people will celebrate his life together and mourn his passing in the privacy of their homes. The Lionfish had made a eulogie for his longtime friend; both emotional and funny.

With Clarence's urn taken away, people starts to disperse slowly. It's at that time that Fior accidently bumps into an unfamiliar face. Not that he knows everyone here by name, but he remembers their faces. Though, Clarence had such a large circle of people gravitating around him that seeing people he has no clue who they are isn't weird either. "I'm so sorry. Are you alright?" He says quietly to the stranger, instinctively reaching out to steady the person if needed.

It was his first day actually walking around the city. The first month was spent learning about the Nameless and their purpose, as well as settling into this new role and surroundings. Different than the west coast, different than what he was used to. Yet it as all still the same. Felix was here to do his job, and do his job he would. Anything else was seen as a distraction or quite frankly no important.

He had been given some free time though, so he took the time to wander around. Becoming familiar with the streets was needed for what he was meant to do. He was passing by a church, where a funeral seemed to be ending just as he was walking past. Death was very familiar to Felix. It haunted him, and it was why he lost his voice. He was going to pass by when he was bumped into. He sad nothing, simply because he couldn't, and just shook his head.

Most of the time, he never bothered to try to communicate. Sign wasn't a well known language sadly. And pulling out his phone was hassle that often caused more questions. Felix simply dusted himself off to show that he was unharmed and gave a tight lipped smile.

They were a little bit -CYNICAL & -DOMINEERING at first, but we kept them talking until they got a little +STRONG-WILLED & +GOAL ORIENTED. They said they’ve been working as ADVISOR, and thinking about aligning themselves with THE NAMELESS since they have been living in New Orleans for A MONTH, and from what we can tell, they still give off huge EERIE SILENCE, A DARK STORMY SEA, PRESSED SUITS vibes. 

Bio:

Here, there be dragons, a phrase that Felix had heard so many speak of. They often believed that monsters lurked under the crashing waves of the ocean, yet in his eyes, the monsters were the ones that stood on two legs and sailed large wooden vessels on his territory. They were cruel and invasive, wanting to take his ocean and claim it as their own. Oh how he and the other creatures of the sea fought. Boats were crushed under their power, and the crew fell into waiting mouths and the surface of the water. They did this for centuries, until one day people grew brave and decided to fight back. They tracked Felix down, following him to his family. He tried fighting them off, but they managed to overpower him. His family was killed, while Felix was bound and helpless. His body was left scarred and broken, as the hunters thought they left Felix for dead. Only, the merfolk was not dead, but rather enraged and broken. They had damaged him and taken his voice, but that just fueled the fire within him. Wanting to avenge his family, Felix made it his mission to gain power by whatever means necessary.  The years went by, and Felix found himself in the presence of an organized crime group where he met Reinaldo, and the two quickly bonded over the shared experiences. It broke his heart to see his friend suffering yet again, and was quick to follow him to New Orleans as well. The transition into the Nameless was easy for him, as organized crime had become his way of life at this point. 

Personality:

Felix is very quiet, no pun intended, and stoic. He’s a very no nonsense type of person, and it’s above making people know how he sees or feels about them. He is dedicated to his work, and is used to reigning in his boss. He believes in the message and the way of the Nameless because that is his job. He uses ASL to communicate, but since he understands not everyone knows it, he also communicates via text to speech.
