Daily Practice #2

This week has been incredible, and I can’t wait to spend more time here and make stronger relationships and friendships and connections here atAlfred. This was the week of the Night Drawing. From what I heard from other older students was that it was rigorous and cold and something that shouldn’t be looked forward to. I soon came to find out they were completely wrong. I absolutely loved searching for a spot to draw throughout the week and for the three nights leading up to the night I sat and drew I walked around a took photographs at night. I played with shutter speed and exposure and composition and somehow I ended up spinning in circles by myself somewhere in the middle of Alfred to take these photos. It was such a genuinely happy moment. Such an amazing feeling.

(and help people and change the world and make music and jokes and make people happy and be happy and be content and eat well and do well in school and make sure my friends are doing alright and talk to my parents more and know all of the answers to the questions that run through my head daily and relax and grow a garden and read poetry and have interesting conversations with interesting people and dance around and cuddle and write more and just be the most me person I can be)

TITLE EDIT: Sound Drawing 9/21 Reflection

This entire experience was new for me. I have not dine any experimental drawing or painting, and exhibitions on sound are also relatively new to me. I was extremely open-minded and excited about this assignment, because most of the art that I have done so far has been observational and I want to branch out from that. The white room that the exhibition is displayed in fits perfectly with the entire atmosphere. I was physically and mentally affected by this work of art, by chest tightened and I felt like I was going crazy! IT WAS AWESOME. 

art is pretty wild, man. 

I loved letting the surroundings and sounds overwhelm my senses and I was able to completely focus on the art around me. Reflecting back on what I made was nice, too, because I got to re-live it a little bit. It was such a great experience and I hope I have the opportunity to have more like it.
