Felix couldn’t ever imagine seeing you fall in love with someone else. You both were pretty close, being best friends since kindergarten. You were together through thick and thin. However, high school started and everything slowly changed for both of you. He kept the secret letters he wrote for you in his drawer in the hope that he will someday be able to give them to you.
The more he hoped, the more it hurt for him. It was alright; at least you were his best friend, he thought.
When he thought he finally got a chance to confess and show his feelings towards you, Hyunjin came into the picture and everything changed. Your whole focus went to Hyunjin, leaving Felix hanging. He hoped that you would notice him once again and say, “You're my best friend, I would never leave you.” At the same time, however, imagining you saying these words to him hurt him even more.
Seeing your lips curve in a smile when you saw Hyunjin in school, the giggles that left your mouth when he cracked a joke, Felix still hoped very much that you would never break off what you had with him. And then the worst came.
You never hung out with him anymore, only using the excuse that you were busy even though you were hanging out with Hyunjin. He wished you would at least be honest with him about it.
Summer break was eventually coming, and Felix put all his courage into confessing with the little hope in his heart and also bringing you the news that he was moving back to Australia. Even though he knew you would reject him, at least would be able to leave without a heavy heart.
Felix sent you a message to meet him under the blooming tree at the park where you both used to hang out as kids.
Finally, Felix had the letters in his hand to give to you. But he came at the wrong time.
Hyunjin was confessing to you, and seeing the way you were hugging and kissing him, Felix's heart ached. He should be happy for you, but why was he crying? Tears left his eyes, running down his cheeks, with the salty taste reaching his lips. It seemed that your friendship with him didn't matter at this point; you had forgotten all about him, so he decided not to push himself into your life anymore.
He will wish the best for you, even if it’s from afar.
