“ ALL I'M SAYING — ” his voice jumps an octave at her jab. then, 𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐧 exhales, pale lips thinning into a line as his eyes narrow. no, that won't do. he can't afford to break character now.

“ all i'm saying, darling— ” this time, his tone comes out almost melodic, smooth as silk. “ there must be a reason why our little friend hasn't decided to wake up just yet. ” perhaps, it isn't meant to wake at all, the vampire spawn muses. perhaps, its dormant state is precisely what grants them these powers, and disturbing it would ruin everything. a pleasant concept ! but a concept is all it is, really.

“ so, why shouldn't we use these tools at our disposal, mh ? ” he tilts his head, expression touched with a hint of mirth. “ some people might get hurt, but we'd survive. aren't we all trying to survive here ? ”

It’s really none of her business, she knows that. Lorelei’s grief and how she deals with it are her burdens to bear. Still, though not her daughter by blood, she was her mama’s child. She had grown up with the old halfling adage that there was nothing a good, hot meal and some company couldn’t cure, and she held to that. A bitter, half-empty bottle of ale wasn’t exactly a home cooked meal but it would do in a pinch.

She makes the offer but genuinely doesn’t expect Lorelei to accept; her surprise evident in her wide grey eyes before a grin spreads across her face. A grin she tries to temper after a beat, to not put any pressure on the other bard - the whole point was to cheer her up, not drag her back into her melancholy.

"You sure?" the genasi asks, then shrugs - light and easy. "I mean, another bottle or two and my playing's going to be off anyway. Feel free to keep my liquored up if you'd rather spare your ears."

“ hey. ” with a lazy flick of her wrist, lorelei swats the back of her hand against her forearm. the hit is light, barely strong enough to count as a slap, more playful than anything. “ that's the best kind of playing in times like these. ” the offended little frown tugging at her mouth doesn't last long before dissolving into a dopey grin. she shakes her head, strawberry blond hair shifting with the movement. an awful performance might annoy some people, but to others it can be an endless sources of laughter, and this bard definitely belongs to the latter category. she's snapped more strings than she can count during wild nights like these, but alcohol can do wonders for your creativity. sometimes.

“ i mean, last thing i'm gonna do now is critique your form when you're drunk. ” a bit of reassurance is the least she can offer, especially after the other did try to cheer her up. “ i'm nothing like my college professor. ” the words stir different memories, way less bittersweet this time.

okay, i will return soon enough from my hiatus. however, i need to be very clear abt this: if you do not care about interacting with my oc(s) as much as my canons, i'd prefer to be softblocked. i'm miserable irl bc i'm dealing with so much shit in these months that i cannot afford to be miserable here, too.

i love ocs, i love writing with ocs, it makes me so happy, but sometimes i feel like this sentiment isn't returned, so i'd prefer if we cut things off right here. i don't hate ppl or i think they are bad bc of this, it just means we aren't compatible writing-wise & it's been a pleasure over all having you on my dash.
