this is my first year in choir and im a soprano 1. my high note is a D6, but my teacher said if i work at an E6, I'll be able to hit it with more training. I plan on being in operas and musicals when i grow up!
I hope you're enjoying choir! I think it's cool that you want to get into musicals and operas. Try to also check out your school's theatre. It could give you some familiarity with musicals and acting!
I'm the second highest soprano in my choir and I'm worried because the first highest is my best friend who is graduating next year and I have to carry the choir after she leaves and I just hope I don't let them down

I am an "alto" in my middle school chorus class just because I can go down to a D3 but my voice isn't as dark as Beyonce and she's a mezzo. I can go from a D3-D6(E6 if I'm really warmed up) what am I considered?
You would be considered a soprano honestly. But maybe mezzo if you're also in the alto group. Talk to your choir director about it!
I'm an alto 2! My choir teacher put me as a soprano 1 in all of 8th grade, and it was TERRIBLE. Then as a freshman my new choir director put me as an Alto 2 and I love it! Low notes are so beautiful, even though they tend to go unnoticed by the public :(

Just followed you!! I'm in two advanced choirs at school, the show choir and the musical! I'm a contralto (it's mezzo but not because my range is A2-E6)! What state / school are you from? :)
Right on! I'm pretty sure I'm a contralto as well. Haven't gotten it confirmed though. I'm from the lovely state of Indiana!
Can I be honest about something? I hate my voice part (soprano) mostly because all my life I've been bullied for being soprano. I wish I could do lower notes I just can't... sometimes I wish I could just rip out my vocal cords.
Don't hate your voice part! Take it from someone who would love to hit those high notes. But I've learned to embrace my deep voice. You should embrace your voice too! No shaming here. Just love.
