https://goo.gl/lgSLWf Harvey Nash is recruiting for an exciting opportunity to join a small yet highly ambitious DevOps team in Edinburgh. The client is a global leader in what they do, and they provide an innovative service to legal and financial clients across the UK, US, and Australia. Due to continued growth and expansion, the company is now able to provide the opportunity for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join their experienced team. The Role: Working alongside the company's development team, the purpose of the role will be to ensure automation across both testing and deployment. You will be a pivotal figure in the DevOps Engineers, mentoring those in your team and providing thought leadership with regards to implementing new tools and technologies. This is a fast paced environment, operating typically in two week sprints. Tech Insight: *One team uses TeamCity for CI, the other uses GoCD. *Vagrant for provisioning development. *The primary scripting language they use is Powershell. *Gitlab is used for source control. Once a developer checks in a change to a service, they submit a merge request and get it approved by two other devs. *A GoCD pipeline kicks in that runs Powershell scripts to build the service and run the unit tests. Static analysis data and unit test data is gathered and reported in their SonarQube server. *An automated deployment to a beta Azure Cloud Service is triggered within GoCD. *Automated UI tests run against the new Cloud Service. These are written in Selenium and use Gauge for the test automation framework. *In parallel to the above, a beta version of the on-premise installer is automatically built. *A VM is manually provisioned and the on-premise installer is run on it - This is an area they're currently working on improving *The automated UI tests are manually started on the new VM - This will be what they improve next, once they address the above point *Manual testing is carried out against the Cloud and on-premise instances. - They have an effort underway to automate as many of these test scripts as possible *Assuming all is fine with the testing, a pipeline in GoCD is triggered to automatically deploy the new build to Azure and to move the on-premise installer to the "release" folder Responsibilities: *Design and deliver an automation framework and scripts against cloud environments *Spearhead progression of said framework whilst also automating test scripts *Identify candidate tasks for automation whilst working collaboratively with development teams to asses technology and toll choices *Work closely with Scrum Master What's in it for you: The role will provide the successful candidate the chance to gain the rare opportunity to work closely with an experienced development team, whilst gaining knowledge of automation within a large organisation. In addition, the role provides excellent progression opportunities for successful individuals. The company also offers additional benefits such as a holiday allowance which increases with time of service, a pension scheme and life assurance.
