Hey, yall with celiacs!

The FDA has allowed companies to not label things with gluten allergens. This means that, once again, the gluten free label can deceptive, and we need to start reading through all of the ingredients again (unless it has the verified label from GFCO). I'm not entirely sure how far this goes, but if looking for treats, do Not believe: cadbury cream eggs, newman o's. They are not gluten free. Stay safe!

Here is an example of the GFCO logo, they verify that advertised gluten free foods actually are:

Either of these logos means that a food has been verified by a third party company that is not the FDA (who has proven we cant trust them). I'm not sure about other verification companies, but I trust this one because they certify gluten free within celiac sensitivity standards. If you know of any other companies, feel free to add!

Hey yall, I wanted to make a PSA about this because it'll be useful to many of you in the United States. You might qualify for public assistance now, specifically because of rising food prices.

The federal poverty line, the biggest determining factor for public assistance, has been kept artificially low for decades because it was based on the outdated assumption that food was the primary expense for most American households. For decades now, shelter has been the larger expense, but the federal poverty limit has still been determined based on the prices of food commodities.

Because food prices have recently gone up, the federal poverty line has gone up significantly as well. This means if you were previously slightly over the income limit to qualify for public assistance such as food stamps or medicaid, you likely qualify now. I'd like to encourage everyone who thinks they might qualify to apply for these programs. The qualification cutoffs are still absurdly low, so please be assured that if you qualify for assistance, you're not taking something you don't need or deserve.

Please reblog this if you think your followers will find it useful. I haven't seen anyone talking about this, it's just something I noticed recently, so I want the info to become more public to help people who might be struggling.

The vast majority of people with DID have also reported experiencing traumatic childhood events. [1a, 1b] This is what we know. What CANNOT be said is that there's a hard cut-off age when the personality "stops forming" - this flies in the face of all of developmental science. The personality develops throughout the lifespan - you can't put a hard number on human development. [2]

Moreover, trauma is not the only factor in DID's etiology. Genetics, attachment issues, and cultural factors are all also theorized to play a part in the development of DID. [3]

PLEASE share this, so no systems fall for this trap and get harrassed.

To anyone who buys from etsy: DO NOT EVER CLICK THEIR ADS

They are rolling out a program where if you get a sale from an ad they put out, they’re taking 12-15% of the profit(probably on top of the like, 5%ish+ they already take). Even worse, if you have clicked an Etsy ad in the last 30 days ANYONE YOU BUY FROM ON ETSY IN THAT PERIOD WILL BE BILLED THAT FEE. 

So please, if you see an ad for something you like off etsy, do not click it. Just go on etsy and search for it.

This is somehow worse than what storenvy used to pull. 

Please go directly through an artist or see if they have their own storefront (I use bigcartel) instead of purchasing off etsy. And if you must, just please, please, never click an etsy ad.

As an ace person who doesn’t think pride should be a g-rated, corporation friendly event, current internet discourse is exhausting.

I remember being a closeted teen and my mother complaining about two women holding hands. She didn’t think it was appropriate in public, where anyone could see. And I was just standing there, wishing so badly I could be one of them.

She also frequently would explain (straight) sex jokes to me at that age if I missed them in movies or tv shows. The message was clear. It wasn’t a judgement on her part about sex. It was a judgement about being noncomforming. And damn that got into my head.

I never got to go to pride as a teen. I wish I had. I wish I had gotten to see people loudly and proudly, strategically not giving a fuck. And yes, I include pda, revealing outfits, kink, and whatever else in that. I wish I had gotten to see people purposefully expressing themselves regardless of the social unacceptability of that expression.

It took me forever to realize that social acceptance through becoming part of the norm isn’t the goal. It took me forever to get the damn respectability politics out of my head. I wish I had had more counterpoints to that when I was younger.

So no. I don’t wish I could have gotten to go to a defanged, sanitized pride as a teen. I wish I had gotten to go to a proper one.
