I love that Byleth represents the Light for Dimitri. When he is lost to his demons, she appears before him swathed in light

When he threatens to slip even further, her hand is a bright light in the dark that he grasps, a beacon of hope

And when he hesitates, looking back to the now dead woman that was the focus of his demons for so long, she catches his hand and takes him away

Byleth keeps leading him away from the darkness until they stand in the light together

say what you will about roy mustang but i like the point hiromu arakawa makes w his character - ie that an irredeemable person living on and devoting themselves to right their wrongs is infinitely more respectable and effective than that person "redeeming" themselves via death without ever doing anything to improve the lives they've ruined
