“It’s not a problem at all.” Takumi replied, immediately stepping forward and collecting all the bags that had been on the ground. Then, he turned and started to walk up the stairs at a pace slow enough for her to be able to keep up with comfortably.
“It’s pretty hot out today too, so it is better if you don’t strain yourself.” He turned to glance at her for a moment. “Has everything been well for you here at the shrine?”
“Thank you,” she said pleasantly. Her pace was much slower than his, but he made sure to walk more slowly. Which she was very much thankful for. Following him up the steep steps, the elder glanced up at him when he spoke to her. Immediately, she perked up, “Ah, yes. It is rather warm. When we reach the top, I’ll be sure to give you something cool to drink, alright?”

He reminded her a lot of her youngest son--he had no problems climbing up and down the steps, picking up things as if they weighed nothing at all, and helping her out when she needed it. Izumi looked up once again, “Hmm...the kids are really rowdy all year long. They play pranks sometimes, but other than that, everything has been fine. Thank you for asking, officer.”

“Of course.” The officer took a few steps closer to her. “What is it you need help with exactly?”
“I’m sorry to be a bother,” the elder woman murmured, gesturing towards the two or three bags filled with groceries at her feet, “I have to take these all up to the shrine and--well, I’m a bit winded.”
The shrine, up the many stairs, would prove to be a hassle for her. “Usually, my granddaughter helps me...”
