Oof. Falling asleep on deck for that long really did a number on his back.
oh! he’s finally awake.
“Ah will avenge ye, bro. B(" ROFL

A reaction such as this was a definite first, though leave it to a kid notorious for her bravery and steadfastness to suggest a revenge plot against the very thing that left the said ‘bro’ with a scar to tell the tale. No, his arm would never fully be the same, but Nobuchika harbored no ill feelings. All in the past, it was. A simple accident, due to some unexpected company. But if Itsuki herself was thoughtful enough to say these things, that had to at least be appreciated.
From his chuckle, she also brought him amusement.
“Oh, really?”
If her wish (though she must have been far from serious) was to sail off in search of the shark that bit him many a year ago, Nobuchika would only provide the moral support. Thoughtful advice, too, if need be. In the end a maturing young lady such as herself, he knew, couldn’t be ignorant to the dangers that lay ahead. He’d say his thanks if once the deed was done.
“Well, by all means, no one`s stoppin` ya – I trust you know what you`re doing.”

Send me one for my muse’s reaction!
“Are you lost?”
“As you wish.”
“Come with me.”
“Can you walk?”
“Dance with me.”
“Did you see that?”
“Do you like it?”
“Don’t go that way.”
“Don’t let them push you around.”
“Don’t try to talk.”
“How are you feeling?”
“How did you get here?”
“I brought you food.”
“I followed you.”
“If you need anything, call.”
“I’ll sleep on the couch.”
“I love the ocean.”
“I’m not answering that.”
“I want ice cream.”
“I will avenge you.”
“I’ve always loved you.”
“Laughing at me won’t end well.”
“Let’s go stargazing.”
“Let’s go swimming.”
“Let me introduce myself. I’m ___ “
“Lie still.”
“Maps and I don’t get along.”
“May I braid your hair?”
“Nice clothes.”
“Nice weather we’re having.”
“Please turn the light on.”
“Pickles are gross.”
“Show me.”
“That isn’t for you to know.”
“Thank you for saving my life.”
“There is a full moon tonight.”
“There is food in the fridge.”
“There is more to the story.”
“These clothes are ridiculous.”
“They think we are in love.”
“This is comfortable.”
“This is for you.”
“Wait for me.”
“Want me to go with you?”
“What did you do?”
“What is your name?”
“What is this place?”
“Where are we going?”
“Where did you put it?”
“Where is your sense of adventure?”
“Who did this?”
“Why did you come here?”
“Why do you ask?”
“Why don’t we slip away?”
“Will you come with me?”
“Words can’t hurt me.”
“You don’t have to take that.
“You look terrible.”
“You have the softest hair.”
“You rest.”
“You’re my everything.”

AS THE PRINCESS lifted her head to meet with the other’s gaze, she would pause. There was something… ODDLY FAMILIAR about the way in which this STRANGER spoke and carried himself. But curse this fatigue for getting in the way. A somewhat hazy mind preventing her from figuring out WHOM it was that he reminded her of then.
Sigh, she suppose she could save all of this for later, however, once she was actually back on her own two feet. Polite in his own way (But eccentrically so, thought not entirely unpleasant), Kai would then finally reach out for the hand that was offered to her.
AND, IT WAS WITH A SLIGHT GRUNT would eyes blow wide as she leaned upon that single source of support with just a little too much FORCE. O-Okay… maybe she was a little more bruised than she had first thought herself to be – Ohhhh she could hear her own Lady’s chastising tone, right then and there! – Perhaps overexertion and the constant need to better herself had finally taken its toll– Noooooo, that can’t be it! … C-Could it? With SHAME already creeping its way up to reddening cheeks, Kai would purse her lips before a response struggled out past them in an almost desperate croak.
“I-I just… need a second! I will be up and running before you know it!”
Nooooo… she didn’t need more help. … No she did not.
Patiently he watched and waited as the other was able to get back on her feet. What he didn’t predict, however, was the little stumble she had the way up. Quickly his free hand was brought to rest at her corresponding arm, for there was no telling if she’d struggle again, all while continuing to hang onto those delicate knuckles in his other occupied palm.
“Mmm, I`ve reason to doubt ya.”
Strong a woman she could have possibly been, able to take fine care of herself despite facing adversity, Nobuchika just couldn’t walk away and listen to her now. Her body was proving to tell differently than her words. What with the times they were in, he was far from expecting trust out of a mere stranger -- yet that didn’t stop him from insisting on additional assistance.
“If you`re that hurt, you should take it easy. Ain`t no shame in needing someone to lean on every once in a while. So relax and let me help, yeah? Wouldn`t want you collapsing again.”
In the end, it was her choice. He’d only continue to stay in place, at the ready in case her legs decided to give out. She might have been more worse for wear than he first believed.
So since I’ve mentioned him earlier and knowing that not all of my followers are gonna be familiar with Basara, let’s have a brief discussion about dad -- I mean, Motochika.
I’m sure it’s way too obvious, but yup, this is the guy: Nobuchika’s father. He’s the daimyo of Tosa, or Shikoku if you consider the time he ruled the whole island, AND also a captain. A pirate captain. Of course, the eyepatch gives it all away. Needless to say he spends a majority of his time on the seas, plundering and causing trouble. He’s also notorious for his wild inventions and weapons. His main vessel is more of a moving fortress than anything too, tbh.
Anywhooo, Motochika’s a pretty nice dude despite him being very rough around the edges. And I probably don’t need to mention that Nobuchika does look quite similar to his dad here. It can’t be hard to tell that these two are related. Generally they are very close to one another also. I meannn (at least historically wise) Nobuchika is considered the apple of his eye.
sidenote: I do roleplay this guy on my blog here if you’re interested. ;^)
@kyoudaikoguma | continued from here.
“Oh -- My bad, miss.”
An honest mistake on his part, though one could never tell from single glance if another, who in this case happened to specifically lie bruised and face first in the dirt, was joined with the dead or not. And he’ll be damned! The young woman still seemed to be in fair condition. Whatever had occurred just previous to Nobuchika’s finding her, he wouldn’t try to pry now. Perhaps she was only in the wrong place at the wrong time.
As requested, a hand was promptly offered out to her.
“Y` all right? Lookin` kinda pale there. You oughta get yourself home now.”
And as his hand gripped onto hers then, Nobuchika raised a brow. Watching the stranger further struggle for that moment made him wonder if his suggestion would be for naught.
“Unless you`re too hurt for that?”
this dude the other day commented on how me and my dad look a lot alike, and my dad’s response was basically “yea I hope so.” tbh I need this except w/ Motochika and Nobuchika.
so, I’ve been thinking about a modern au ...
Nobuchika would be in college, studying either something along the lines of marine biology or history. maybe even both. suffice to say he just isn’t much of a mechanic and isn’t into engineering like those before him, but he’d still help out from time to time at his father’s shop. guess it’s worth mentioning he comes from a wealthy family too and that sort of shows.
main difference in appearance would be the lack of braids in his hair. but he’s keeping his topknot / ponytail, as well as his love for western pirate-y fashion. he doesn’t wear glasses ALL the time, only when needed for reading and whatever. other than that? he’s the same.
I can’t mention much else now. need more time developing all this. oh yea but I think he’d be a surfer or something in his free time. and he’s kind of a nerd. his big goal would be traveling outside of the country more. uhhh so yup I’ll have lots more details to share another day.
Wishlist: Uncle Masamune / Keiji / Ieyasu and Auntie Sayaka Magoichi, amongst others.

【✶】❛ Calling it a talent is too kind of you! But thank you, mister! ❜ She set her chopsticks down, stretching out her arms as she awaited the next order of soba. ❛ Yeah, I think you should! Priestess’ honor, if you don’t like the soba, I’ll pay for you! ❜ Isanami leaned forward, resting her arms on the table as she focused her gaze on his clothing again. Lips purse in contemplation before she shook her head.
❛ No, I haven’t. I only know about the Tosa jinja since I was supposed to know about the other Shinto shrines… though I’ve never been given the opportunity to travel there myself. ❜ Though there was no denying that she was indeed curious about the region. ❛ What’s it like there? How come your clothing is different from here? ❜ She paused, deciding that this wasn’t the best way to have a conversation. After the waitress placed the new order of soba in front of her, Isanami picked it up and shuffled across the bench, sitting at the edge of the table closest to the other.
❛ Is it okay if I ask? Sometimes my friends tells me I’m not supposed to ask so many questions to people, but I think it’s fun to learn about things outside of Ueda! I think they’re just saying that because they’ve seen more than me, eheh~ ❜
“Well, Miss, I might just take ya up on that offer later.” Saying so with a wink, Nobuchika then takes the time she does to speak to finish off his own meal. A priestess, was she? Interesting. Wouldn’t be the first time he’s met one, though. And with his plate now empty, he sets the dish down along with his chopsticks on the table, leaning back in his seat to simply watch the other before him while they continued their chat.
“Oh, sure. I think you got the right idea. Asking questions is the best way to learn; `course I don`t mind. But, I dunno what to tell you. It`s just a different lifestyle there. Most of us in Tosa are the traveling type. At least in my family.” Men of the Chōsokabe line were seafarers -- pirates. It was only natural for Nobuchika to also follow the tradition. Though those exact details he had yet to confide in, he’d let her figure that out on her own.
“And y`know, no matter where ya go, everyone`s gonna have their own style. Even if I dress this way, I can`t be all that different from you or anyone else here. Agreed?”
dad ... dad, stop.

“Awww…”
THAT WAS A DARN SHAME, really. But, hey, that didn’t mean that she had immediately turn around and head on back home then. Naw, she could wait, spend some time looking around until he came back. And, right now, this PECULIARLY FAMILIAR LOOKING BRO had drawn her attention. With a puzzled tap to her chin with that mitten of hers, Itsuki however easily found herself smiling back in return.
“Ah jus’ wanted ta pay da bro a visit! ‘S been awhile since he dropped on by mah village. So ah jus’ wanted ta see ‘ow he was doin’! But, who are ye, bro? His RETAINER?”
“That so?”
Now that her story comes into mention, he had no troubles recalling the reminder he’d received that morning regarding a few guests. Her odd dialect, coupled with the fact she was a child from a far away village -- this could only be the same girl he’s heard many a story about. Having never anticipated meeting her for the first time in these circumstances, this all must have been a simple coincidence for the both of them.
“Nobuchika`s my name. I`m not necessarily a retainer, no. More so ... you could say I`m just next in command `round here.” A brief explanation, but surely one she’d understand.
“And you`ve gotta be Itsuki, yeah?”

【✶】Golden hues remained focused on her task, cheeks flushed red with contentment as the soba was devoured with ease. The owner of the store was quite accustomed to the youth’s bottomless pit of a stomach, hence why they had not run out of supply just yet, but Isanami supposed there would still be people here who didn’t know of her appetite. ❛ Mhn! ❜ Mouth full, she could only make a muffled hum of agreement when someone decided to point out her current accomplishment.
❛ Really? You’ve seen a small world then, mister! ❜ She spoke after swallowing her current bite, looking up and grinning brightly at the other. ❛ Or… actually, now that I think about it, people keep telling me it’s not normal? But if you can eat, you should eat, right? I just happen to be able to eat a lot. ❜ That… wasn’t the problem, honestly, but whatever floated her boat. ❛ Yes, it’s really good! The soba has a lot of flavor and the noodles themselves are firm but soft! It’s hard to get a combination like that just right. ❜
Isanami blinked, tilting her head as she ordered yet another bowl. ❛ Could this be your first time in this town? Your clothing looks like Jinpachi-san’s, in a way. It’s not like what people here usually wear. ❜
Upon further inspection, it certainly seemed she was really enjoying herself there. Her excitable nature was admittedly endearing to watch. And when she had finally given her response, those words caused Nobuchika to chuckle to himself. Since he considered himself well-traveled, him being limited to the view a small world was hardly true.
But, how was she supposed to know?
“Whatever you say, there`s just no denying you got some sort of talent.” And here he thought he was the one with the all too insatiable appetite, what with the ridicule he’d at least gotten in his own teenage years. Oh, how times change all too quickly. “`n if the soba`s that good, maybe I oughta try it next.” First, though, he had his fish to finish…
With a growing grin then, Nobuchika kept his eyes on the other for the time being. His clothing, strange? Maybe only to the locals here. “Hah, yea, I`m actually from Tosa.”
“I`m guessin` you`ve never been there if you think I look so outta place.”
