FORGIVE HIM for feeling mildly … confused. for he certainly knows yukimura is being sincere, but he cannot fathom why he would go through the trouble of fetching him this stick when mitsunari himself could venture out into the woods and collect many.

and even then, he isn’t quite sure what to do with it. he can’t quite stick it in a vase and put it on display, or mount it on a wall. string it from the ceiling ? these options all would feel rather silly, but he supposes if it made yukimura happy to see ——
for a moment, he thinks, dryly, how unfortunate it is that he has grown to care about what certain people think of him ( and then he chides himself for thinking so cynically —— for he is glad for the friendships he has, especially yukimura’s ).
he accepts the branch, gingerly, as if one wrong move and his delicate hands will be covered in splinters —— turns it over from one side to the next ( although branches are rather round, do they even have sides —— ? ), as though he were looking to appraise it.
