Tilt Shift - Extended
Here are a few examples of fellow photographers who have achieved decent tilt shift effected out comes:
I like this photograph because of the intense blur effect around the outer center which brings the focus point onto where pedestrians crossing the road are now transformed into miniature people. I also like the high contrasted effect added to the photograph, I feel as if this gives the photos something extra.
I chose to analyse this photograph because I really like how this is a one of a kind photograph that I found when researching into other tilt shifted images. I also really like how there isn't any blur to create a focus point for the photo, and how the effect has been added not just to the surfers but the waves also.
I really like this photograph because of aspects like the white blocks in the image that add something unlike anything I had come across when researching. I also like how there are so many people in the shot, and aspects of them are so dark in comparison to the blocks in the image.
Retouching Extended - Glen Feron
Feron has been working with photoshop manipulation for many years. Previously he used to use an old fashioned airbrush painting device until he discovered he could achieve the same outcome when computers came along.
Here are a few examples of his work. I feel as if they are "Over Airbrushed" for magazine cover usage but I still like the computerized look he has achieved in his work:
Here is another Globe I created from the original Panoramic image.
The final step to creating the globe effect was to form the globe using two simple steps. Filter>Distort>Polar Coordinates>Click OK. After creating a globe I wanted to adapt the image by adding a black background and an effect on the detail. For the adding a coloured background I selected the Magic Wand tool and selected the black area behind the globe, I then filled it with a solid colour. For the effect on the image itself I went to Filter>Brush strokes>Ink outlines. This gave the globe a sense of originality and made the globe stand out more.
For the next step I had to create a square out of the image. I achieved this by going to Image>Image size>Changing the dimensions to equal in width and height.
After I had completed my original Panoramic image this was where I adapted my already edited image further. First we had to open our edited picture and then enlarge above the image which will leave it with a spacing at the top. I then filled in the blank space with a solid colour and rotated the entire photo 180' degrees.
Panoramic Images - Extended (Globe Effect)
After creating our Panoramic images we extended the idea and evolved our pieces into globes. The "globe effect",is an effect that is created through distorting an image on software or through a camera lens. When the effect is added, the once standard panoramic image adapts into a curved "ball" like object in the center of the photo. Here are a couple of examples:
I was really attracted to this specific image because of the general feel I got on first glance. The warm colours of some aspects of the image in comparison to the ice white snow really fits together. I also like how the globe isn't vastly distorted to create the effect.
I had to crop the image so it had perfect edges as my movement adjusted the view for some photos taken slightly. Generally, this gave me the Panoramic View I was looking for. I found the steps extremely simple to get this effect and I feel as if my image came out to plan.
Here is the effect I got from the process so far. The steps so far have combined/blended my images together automatically.
My first step was opening up my image. After opening up my first image of the rotation shoot I went to the first tab on the top of the menu and clicked Automate>Photomerge (Auto)>Browse>Select all of the images to be used>Click Ok.
Panoramic
Panoramic photography is a technique used by photographers. The effect is created by using equiptment and software that captures stretched out views. A photograph that is larger than what the human eye’s sight could expand to, that is what can be classified as a panoramic image. Here are a few examples of panoramic shots taken by photographers:
I decided to analyse this specific photograph because during researching into panoramic shots I was mostly attracted to night shots of cities. I feel as if all of them spill beautiful tones of colour and detail of all of the buildings.
Here is the final result of my Dynamic Distortion effected image.
For the final step I flattened all of my layers and create a brand new one. On the new layer I filled it with a solid grey colour. I then moved this layer to the very bottom to be used as the background for the entire image. After creating the background I then created a new layer and moved it to the very top. Next I clicked the brush tool and selected another splatter brush and used segments of colour from the girls clothing and pasted them alongside the splats on the edges.
After finishing the skeleton outline of her body, I then selected one of the layers and clicked on the splash that was on the specific layer with the magic wand tool. I then clicked Select>Inverse and then turned the visibility off from all layers except this one and the original cut out layer, i then right clicked, layer via copy. I did this process for every layer.
The next step was building up a "Skeleton" of the girls body with all of my brushes. On a new layer on the movement photo file I pasted brushes in the directions of where her arms and legs stretched out. I parted the brushes ever so often onto each of their own layers.
In a new file I then created a group of the brushes I wanted to use for my piece. One I had selected which ones I wanted I then pasted each one in the group together (All In black). After having all of my brushes in the layer on the file I went to Edit>Define Brush Preset.
