"I'm probably going to need an ice pack." JJ said, assuming they were heading back to Chrissy's house. They initially were coming out to talk alone about the fight she and Eddie got into. Eddie wasn't talking to him either. They walked out of the forest, finding their way back onto solid black top road. "Mind if I stay in your guest house again? I'll ditch before your mom wakes up. That's if I survive my concussion." It was a joke. JJ was use to joking about being hurt. "My dad isn't going to notice. I bet he's passed out drunk on the couch surrounded by beer cans, and pills."

Was it a fight? Chrissy’s heart wasn’t feeling like it was. It felt more right to label it as a complex misunderstanding. She couldn’t understand what was going on in her boyfriend’s head, nor was she aware of how he was feeling. Some details were brought up to the surface, and it was all she had to mull over. Part of her wondered if it was punishment for what she had done to Jason. Karma caught up quick. Because of these thoughts, she was quiet, more so than usual. Just when she thought she was getting better, finding her place with others, feeling like she belonged — she felt right out of place once more. “I don’t mind.” She simply responded about JJ staying at the guest house. “Come on.” She made sure he could walk, brightening their path with her flashlight as best as she could, before offering it out to him. “Would you like to hold it? Since you’re.. colossal.” If Eddie were around to hear that, she would have been able to catch a glimpse of a grin, maybe even a laugh. Along with his endearing teasing over how tiny she was.

Penelope wasn’t on board with the plan Chrissy had in mind, causing the petite cheerleader to argue with her friend the whole time. It was rare for Chrissy to become impatient, but when it came to something important such as fighting for the person she loved, the lengths she would go for Eddie were boundless. In her heart and mind, they simply had a misunderstanding. “I’ll call you at the nearest pay phone.” Chrissy’s final words to her friend, after Penelope passed the cups of coffee and bag of bagels through the window on the drivers side, all bought from the coffee shop he introduced her to. Once they said their goodbyes, Chrissy made sure Penelope drove away and not wait. If Eddie decided to not talk to her, the plan was to leave his coffee there and bag of bagels on the porch. Somewhere where the raccoons wouldn’t get it, hopefully. His van was still there as she walked up, which was a good thing, and the first stop she made. Remembering how he wanted to sleep in there, and careful not to drop everything, she gently knocked on the back doors of the van. “Eddie?” She called out, loud enough in hopes he could hear her. And, just in case, she knocked another time. “It’s Chrissy. I brought you coffee and bagels.”

“Just the ones on Sweetheart. I made sure it didn’t get into the extras.”

“I was waiting for you to come home and see what you might suggest we do. There might be a broken mug. A few chewed up guitar strings. A mess on your bed, that I cleaned up! And I’ll do everything to replace the broken mug and buy new guitar strings. You have my word. I’m sorry. I really am! Oh, um. I left you a bag of gummy bears, too.”

And, not because you think I’m attractive.. which is flattering and all, but I never knew what it was like to be treated like I deserve nothing short of the best. It’s quite a feeling, knowing what I’m worth and I don’t think I ever would have known if it weren’t for the significant impact you’ve made in my life.”
