Historical events like that of a solar eclipse made for special moments when one was an educator. Chrissy had been preparing indoor and outdoor activities for her second graders, remembering when she was their age and receiving countless ribbons or certificates for projects and activities alike. No one was left out, whether they were into it or not.
Chrissy was incredibly lucky to have the students that she did, in all of her few years of teaching. The classroom was buzzing with their excitement, chatter going around as groups came together. Todayβs project? Pinhole viewers and disco balls. Oh yes, the latter was very much her favorite project for her kids to experience. Some of the children even dressed up like scientists and astronauts, with permission from the school principal. Even jotting down notes in their notebooks, and it was quite a proud moment for Chrissy, seeing them all have fun while learning.
It wasnβt until one of her students tried to leave the classroom without permission, something that would have easily been overlooked if the boy hadnβt crashed into the corner of one of the desks. βTimothy! Are you alright over there?β
The whole room went quiet, apart from some rustles of paper and cutting of cereal boxes, everyone was suddenly looking rather suspicious. The boy apologized, not at all covering what he was trying to do as he looked over at the door, while Chrissy suspected he was ready to go outside. βWe still have some time before it starts, Timothy. Do you need to use the bathroom?β He looked put on the spot, especially when the class started to giggle and whisper among themselves, but he shook his head and went back to his group.
