Drawing in my "Static in my Head" sketchbook for the first time in nearly a year. Not sure why it came out a bit lighter than it should be. This
My husband's aunt is having a birthday soon, so I decided to create a set of these macrame angel wings for her using a tutorial from YouTube. Aren't they gorgeous?
I've also been wanting to draw more this year, but with how busy I am with working fulltime, being a mom the rest of the time, crafting, gaming, and writing to relax, I wasn't sure where I'd make the time.
But then it hit me that I can make sketches of my crafts before/during/after I create them both for posterity and to take notes about my process as I make them.
I can probably extend this to my gaming and writing as well. I probably wouldn't need much motivation to do some sketches about my WIP fics, like "Life After Life" or "Thicker than Water." I'm also revisiting Minecraft on my laptop and will need to sketch out concept art for my upcoming builds.
We'll see how this all plays out over the year.
For October, I've decided instead of participating Inktober, I am going to commit to a smaller scale project, since working full time and being a mom all the rest of the time doesn't give me much time to spend on drawing daily.
So I am committing to making small zine with my abstract pen and ink art based on the kinds of drawings I sketch in my "Static in my Head" journal.
I've finished the front page. By the time I'm done I should have an 8.5"x11" sheet of paper filled with drawings.
I haven't seen anything related to Copyright or Creative Commons licensing appear on Tumblr recently, so I decided to post some info here to refresh everyone's memories or to introduce them to you if you've never heard of them before. If you want too learn more, please check out the link below the infographics.

I did not realize this, but apparently one of the largest zine libraries in the country is located here in Denver, CO. They house a collection of over 20,000 zines, and it's a collection that's been made up over the years by donations from people all over the country.
They also accept donations of zines as well to this day. If you have any zines you would like archived somewhere safe for posterity, I would suggest sending a copy to them.
And your zines won't just sit on a shelf collecting dust. This is an actual library and locals are allowed to check out zines like you would any book from a traditional library.
This is just such a cool thing I learned today!
Another great inspirational video from Scott Christian Sava! He tallks about his "corner of shame" and how it's ok to just "walk away" from a project you're not feeling.

Meet the Artist: @kadabura
Hello, I’m Kada, an artist who specializes in designing masked/faceless characters! I enjoy working in both 2D and 3D mediums, and my styles range from messy sketches to pixel art to flat lineless work and digital paper cut-outs! I love doing concept work and creating strange new OCs to share, as well as lending the occasional hand to music cover art and merch! I hope to keep improving in all of my different art styles and to keep sharing the odd little stories I’ve dreamt up over the years :)
Nice to meet you, Kada! They have shared some of their artwork below for you all.
Check out more of Kada’s work over at their Tumblr, @kadabura

Sharing more pages from my "The Static in my Head" sketchbook. This is a sporadic thing for me. I only use black and white ink here.
