Why not be honest and say it’s a composite ?
I’m not against people creating composite photography, in fact when it’s done well it can be highly creative and imaginative and a pleasing visual picture. So why is there so many photographers out there passing off their photos in photography groups as single capture shots that are clearly poorly edited composites? People with very limited visual capacity for truly looking at the image then pass comments on these pictures then on how fantastic the shot they took is.
It is easy to spot the different elements of the composite;
*angles of light/sunlight hitting the various individual elements that do not match
*the different color temperature of each of the seperate elements that have not been harmonized
*the poor cutting and feathering
*the different levels of sharpness of the elements
*the scale of the different elements that are used to make up their picture are usually totally off
There is loads more pointers to composite pictures, these are just a few that comes to mind as I rant on about this. But what is going through the photographers mind as the swallow up this gloop from the public? Where is their sense of worth for the craft of photography? Do they get enjoyment from cheating the public? Are we being complicit if we do not call them out on their fake creations? Maybe they just do not have the skill, or desire to take their photography to the next level and are preferring using shortcuts instead?
