One small observation.

Afo prevents Tomura from destroying everyone in his path.

Just look closely, in chapter 343 his right hand is clean and calm, and he calmly emerges from the teleportation slurry. But in 344, his hand is shaking! Afo won't let him use the Decay. And Tomura is extremely surprised by this, because now he can choose what to destroy, and do it without full contact with five fingers. But here... here he is forbidden.

Another thought I had was that during Star’s final stand through New Order his decay quirk was destroyed, meaning it was not his and instead planted on him by AFO. I’ve always felt that decay was the cause of his itchy skin, his body fighting against the foreign quirk
