The final crit.
We set up the game ready for the class to play during the crit, with the screen printed posters and scrap baize which was also held the lay out for the game, fixed upon the wall. We crafted a chalkboard out of the kitchen cupboard door we salvaged from a skip.
The over all reception was great, with a couple of Boddingtons thrown in for good measure.

Last and final push to put together the components we had spent sourcing and crafting over the past two weeks.

Once we got hold of the baize we got on to preparing the screen to screen print the games layout onto the material. This is in keeping with the original processes that they would have used in the edwardian era to create a billiards table or equivalent.
#p5 Meanwhile we created a front cover for our games instructions. Our game is set in an old English pub environment. We wanted to recreate this environment for our game, meaning that all elements of the design have been reverted back to the period stylistically. Our choice of colour and type is reminiscent of such an era. Here are a few pictures from our screen printing session.

Another day of sourcing, this time we went West to hunt down the Baize for the games playing surface and a nice paper stock for our screen printing of the game instructions and logo.
We sourced 3 metres of baize from Peter Jones and the paper stock from Shepherds inc. Falkiner Fine Papers.

A day of sourcing the additional round table for the score zone area of the game table.
We came across a warehouse full of salvaged restaurant and pub furniture.

In this project I will be working with Andrew Clarke, Jay Ahmed and Jack Shepherd, whose links I will provide at the end of this log.
We have been given a brief to create a new, physical game. We were first left to think and discuss on what constitutes as a game.
We went to a favourite pub, Brewdog, in Shoreditch, of which I knew had a selection of different board games we could experience. To my disappointment its collection seemed to have dwindled since my last visit before christmas to the pub.
Pictures show the three games we learnt the most from in regards to game layout, packaging, variety, audience and player experience.

For this half of the project I've decided to use the opportunity to begin the branding process for and idea I've been looking to kick start since the beginning of 2014.
The idea stemmed through a love of street food and casual dining, something I would love to try doing for myself. One late night drive with my mum through the suffolk roads, we came up with the idea of our venture 'Pork and Apple'. A menu based on the two ingredients, good English home cooking, locally and ethically sourced, with its interior dedicated to the same standard as the food.
I am happier with the pork chop in the second image, the apple however needs work. I am aiming for the logo to be clean cut and simplistic, as the food and design of the restaurant would be, somewhere for customers to feel comfortable and kick it back.

I branded David Cameron.
Self explanatory.
I was feeling an influence from a lecture I attended held by Ken Garland on protest graphics.
