The Xianle quartet in the begining of TGCF is literally so funny to me as a concept.

Because it's literally these 3 guys who have disguised themselves from this 1 guy to go hang out with him. 2 of them know who each other is and also immediately recognised who the third guy is but don't have any proof to back it up. And the third guy also knows exactly who they are but he doesn't care and doesn't even wanna interact with them because he got beef with them.

Meanwhile the 1 guy they are disguising themselves from actually recognised them on sight because they absolutely suck at disguising themselves, but they're trying so hard and he doesn't want them to feel bad and they're also hanging out now so that's fun, he doesn't wanna ruin that.

love that xie lian canonically gets jealous like he was so sullen and gloomy every time hua cheng brought up his special someone and he literally threw himself in front of hua cheng’s sweaty shirtless torso cause the idea of someone else seeing even an inch of his man half-naked had him stressed as hell ... i truly feel that xie lian is the possessive one cause while we all know hua cheng is protective and will hold a centuries-long grudge, i feel like he would never dare to lay claim to xl whereas xl is like mine mine mine, this ghost is mine!!! and if someone else touches him i'll throw up and dig a hole to die in!!

i remember when mdzs first came out and i didn't know shit about the genre yet, so my friend and i found it in a bookstore and she went "grandmaster of demonic cultivation???? what is 'cultivation'. google says it's practicing agriculture. how can you do that demonically." and i was like "farming evilly and deviously......"

anyways this exchange became ten times funnier when i read mdzs years later and got to the part where everyone thinks wei wuxian is establishing a horrible evil demonic sect with the wen remnants but he's actually just trying to farm so they don't starve. doing some straight up evil and demonic and devious farming.
