A small PSA on how to deal with links on tumblr dot com.

A couple of years ago, Tumblr changed the way links work in an attempt to deal with the porn bots. So basically, if your post includes a link, it’s hidden from the tags and doesn’t appear in searches. This, of course, sucks if you want to promote your store or some other content, because Tumblr kind of shadowbans you when you’re just but a small artist trying to fight the algorithms so people can see your art.

However, if you add your link to your post on the “source” like this

you can still have a link redirecting to another site without suffering the exile from the tags, so it’s an useful way to redirect to your store or other social media (as well as the actual source if you are reposting something, of course!)
