This is the center of a flower of life. I left out the arc segments that don't form complete circles because I think it produces a more striking visual effect when it expands and contracts in this way.
Out of nothing, I have created a strange new universe.
János Bolyai, in a letter to his father concerning his work in non-Euclidean geometry.
visualizingmath's logo is a dragon curve fractal. Here's a gif of one growing from a pair of line segments.
Here are a few 2-dimensional projections of torus knots using undulating patterns of circles.
You can use Mathematica to make some pretty interesting animations with a little finagling. This second one is using a sine function to sweep through a range of the color palette on two separate, interlocking grids of rhombuses. The sine functions for each grid are out of phase, so you get this interesting contrast effect.
Another structure synth experiment. This is something I came across while trying to make a sort of fractal mandala structure proportioned according to the golden section. I did come up with some interesting results along those lines, which I might post later. This is what I got when I stripped away a lot of the fluff I had added and started messing with the basic recursive pattern. I got this interesting series of symmetries and geometrical shapes by changing the parameter corresponding to the angle of new "branches" from 0 to 2π
Don't forget to water your Pythagorean bonsai.
My first experiment with structure synth. I think it turned out well, all things considered. The animation really lets you see the structure and symmetry unfold before your eyes, and you can end up with something pretty emergent and beautiful without a whole lot of effort.

stunningly organic
Lovely isn’t it ?
i really love the way you can see a lot of different iconography blending together seamlessly to create something really visually interesting
why would anyone do drugs when they could just draw an infinite number of hexagons?
