let's talk about the physical affects of chronic anxiety because they're hardly ever acknowledged
upset stomach and vomiting
ulcers
muscle aches
chronic fatigue
hormonal problems
irregular menstrual cycles
insomnia
infections
lowered immune system
migraines
shortness of breath
dizziness
heart palpitations
teeth-grinding
rashes
it is a lot more than just “feeling anxious “
numbhex-files:
can’t reblog enough.
vertigo (floors are moving/room is spinning)
urinary problems/pain when you pee
IBS (which is more than just an “upset stomach”)
changed taste sensation/things taste rotten and metallic
sweats
weight fluctuation, loss or increase in appetite, craving for carbs and sugar
dry mouth which makes it hard to eat
low-grade fever
loss of ability to focus your eyes
chest pain
TMJ
tinnitus
swollen lymph glands (due to said lowered immune system)
numb hands and feet
rashes
worsening allergies and asthma
changes in libido
i could go on, really.
no but seriously I didn’t know a lot of these things were symptoms/side effects of anxiety until I’d had them for years
I’m broke and can’t pay my medical bills this month!! I work full time as a neurobiology researcher for a prestigious university and I still don’t have money for my medical bills!!! America’s healthcare sucks!!

“probably shouldn’t have walked that much huh”
— famous disabled proverb (via disabledlgbt)
People with zero knowledge of my illness: Just go for a nice long walk or a jog! Excercise is always a good idea. I run every morning and I feel great :)
Every physiotherapist and cardiologist I’ve ever seen: please for the love of god do not even think about trying to jog unless you want to die
you’re saying having adults constantly ignore and not believe my pain levels growing up and having doctors leave me in pain for years made me an angrier person? who knew.
Typical conversations between my doctor and me:
Me: Alright I’m going to be super productive tomorrow!
Me, the second my alarm goes off:
being disabled in 2019 is so weird because so many of us would probably be dead if we were born during a different time period
and a not too distant one at that
